Job description

FOREMAN

L.G Barcus and Sons is looking for a positive individual that is highly self‑motivated, with strong communication and problem solving skills to assist in leading a bridge crew. LGB has a strong safety culture and is a trusted partner with the railroad industry. We have been building careers for over 100 years and offer competitive wages. The starting wage for this role will be between $85,000 and $105,000 per year to commensurate with experience. Our daily per diem allowance is $35 with lodging administered by company and will be paid according to policy guidelines.

Job Responsibilities

Manage daily operations at job site, to include:

  • Supervision of crew (4‑5 employees)
  • Participate in daily job briefings and safety meetings
  • Understand and work in accordance with the overall project schedule
  • Ensure proper set‑up, safe operation, and inspection of equipment such as Pile Hammer, Crane, Excavator, etc.
  • Proficient with basic survey equipment for bridge and site layout

Work together with Superintendent on a daily basis to communicate production goals and quality specifications of work, discuss concerns that have surfaced (around people, resources and methods, material or equipment use, extra or out of scope work), and ideas to help the team achieve project goals.

Participate in planning resources and methods for bridge project.

Monitor and manage crew productivity. Ensure ongoing efforts are made to improve productivity.

Understand and follow company policies and procedures.

Enforce company safety policies and ensure industry safety regulations are adhered to.

Exercise proper care, maintenance, and operation of company equipment.

Knowledgeable on plans and specifications.

Requirements
  • Ability to operate a large range of power tools (pneumatic, electric, hydraulic)
  • 3‑5 years of construction and pile driving experience
  • Experience reading engineer approved plans and specifications
  • Basic computer/electronics knowledge to support daily use of smartphone, laptop, etc. for completing reports and communicating
  • Proven experience with and willingness to focus on safety policies, procedures, and regulations
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to work as a team to jointly carry out assigned tasks
  • Current Drivers License with a favorable driving record
  • Experience with and ability to work at heights
  • Ability to gain Erailsafe clearance
  • High School Diploma or GED
  • Understanding of heavy equipment, including cranes, excavators and pile drivers
