Job summary

gpac is seeking a versatile Crew Chief to join our multi-disciplinary surveying team in Idaho and Washington. You will split time between field operations and office collaboration, leading data collection, staking, boundary and topographic surveys, and coordinating with engineers and survey draftspeople.

In our small-office environment, you will wear many hats and directly support the PLS, with opportunities for hands-on continued education and career growth.

Qualifications

• Experience as a Survey Crew Chief or senior Field Technician.
• Proficient in boundary surveys, staking, and topographic surveys.
• Ability to work in field and office environments.
• Collaborative and adaptable in a small-business setting.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record; LSIT preferred but not required.

Job description

We are seeking a versatile Crew Chief to join our multi-disciplinary firm. The successful candidate will split their time between field operations and office collaboration, contributing directly to land surveying, data processing, and site planning. In our smaller firm setting, this role requires wearing many hats, working alongside our Professional Land Surveyor (PLS) and survey drafting team while collaborating across our engineering divisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead field operations for data collection, construction staking, boundary surveys, and topographic surveys.
• Transition between field data collection and office environments to assist with data processing and project planning alongside the PLS.
• Manage field notes, electronic data collection files, and project documentation efficiently.
• Coordinate closely with internal structural and civil engineering teams to streamline project lifecycles from concept to delivery.
• Support both commercial and residential site planning projects across Idaho and Washington.
• Maintain field equipment and oversee the care of the provided company vehicle.

Qualifications

• Proven experience as a Survey Crew Chief or high-level Field Technician ready to take the next step.
• Strong competency in construction staking, boundary tracking, and topographic surveying.
• Ability to work effectively in both outdoor field environments and an office setting.
• Collaborative mindset with a willingness to wear multiple hats and adapt to shifting daily project needs.
• Reliable, team-oriented attitude suited for a close-knit, collaborative small-business environment.
• Valid driver's license with a clean driving record. LSIT preferred but not required.

• Competitive Hourly Rate ($25.00 - $42.00 / hour) with Overtime paid at Time and a Half (Position targets a consistent 40-hour work week)
