Job summary

IMEG is hiring a Crew Chief in Palmetto Bay, FL to direct daily survey field crew activities, acquire field data, and complete assigned land surveying field projects. This role provides survey assistance under the leadership of an Office Coordinator or Senior Crew Chief.

You will oversee field operations, equipment, data quality, and crew training while maintaining productive relationships with clients and coworkers. The team serves transportation and bridge markets.

Qualifications

• 4 years of experience minimum; 8 years preferred in construction surveying
• Proficiency in surveying fundamentals and procedures common to the region

Responsibilities

• Oversee daily field crew operations for boundary, topographic, and stakeout surveys
• Operate and care for survey equipment including total stations, GPS, levels, and data collectors
• Transfer files between data collection and project folders; perform quality checks on field data
• Deliver accurate as-staked cutsheets and deliverables; ensure data integrity

What You'll Do

• Oversee and perform daily field crew operations to collect data for boundary, topographic, and construction stakeout surveys.
• Operate, maintain, and care for survey, data collection, geodetic, and reality-capture equipment.
• Transfer files between data collection and internal company project folders.
• Complete quality checks and process field data.
• Download, maintain, and verify the accuracy of project data, reports, and databases.
• Maintain professional, productive working relationships with clients and coworkers.
• Oversee and train individuals to operate total stations, GPS, levels, and data collectors for field survey data collection.
• Perform pre-field staking calculations and prepare as-staked cutsheets and deliverables, as needed.
• Operate a company vehicle and observe safety and security procedures.

What You'll Bring

• 4 years of experience minimum required, 8 preferred, in the construction industry preferred

Required Skills/Abilities

• Advanced knowledge of surveying fundamentals and procedures recognized in the region work is being performed
• Knowledge of modern survey equipment, devices, and methods
• Problem solving techniques
• Knowledge of jurisdictional and industry requirements
• Ability to work in an outdoor environment
• Possesses oral and written communication skills
• Ability to professionally represent IMEG
• Ability to collect field data in an organized, neat and professional manner for boundary, topographic, design and construction stakeout projects.
• Valid driver's license with ability to be insured by IMEG carrier; must consent to a Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) background check
• Proficient in Microsoft and MS Office Suite including but not limited to Word, Excel, and Outlook
• Ability to travel with occasional overnight stays

Preferred

• Experience with Trimble, Leica Robotic Total Stations, Data Collectors and GPS preferred
• RPLS/SI preferred but not required
• Associates degree, or certificate, in Land Surveying, Civil Engineering Technology or Civil Engineering preferred
