Job summary

AEVEX Aerospace seeks an Aircraft Mechanic/Crew chief for ground and flight ops, aircraft and engine maintenance, and records management on unmanned systems in a training/flight test environment. The role emphasizes safety, efficiency, and adherence to established aviation processes.

The ideal candidate has UAS maintenance experience, proficiency with checklists, and the ability to deploy to the CENTCOM AOR, with full-time onsite commitments five days per week.

Qualifications

  • Experience with Aircraft Systems and their operation.
  • FAA A&P cert and/or IA preferred; ability to obtain Class III medical.
  • Experience with UAS, ground and flight operations in training/flight test.
  • Ability to deploy to CENTCOM AOR and possess a valid driver’s license.

Responsibilities

  • Perform ground and flight operations, maintenance, and inspections.
  • Maintain digital and paper maintenance logs and configurations.
  • Troubleshoot aircraft electrical systems using schematics and fault isolation manuals.
  • Ensure airworthiness through scheduled inspections and servicing.
  • Provide quality control reviews on maintenance manuals.
  • Collaborate with team to meet daily maintenance and flight objectives.
  • Utilize software for maintenance documentation and flight support.

Job description

This is an full-time onsite position, five days per week. Two shift operations supporting a flying schedulefor flight test and training events.

Job Overview
AEVEX Aerospace is seeking an Aircraft Mechanic/Crew chief to perform ground and flight operations,aircraft and engine maintenance, scheduled and unscheduled maintenance, servicing, pre and post flightinspections, and maintenance records management on unmanned aircraft systems and subsystems in atraining and flight test environment. The ideal candidate will have experience supporting highperformance, flight line operations and sortie production with an elevated degree of safety and efficiency.The candidate should be proficient in the use of aircraft checklist (paper and digital) and performingduties using established processes and best practices found in military and/or commercial aviation.

Essential Functions

  • Perform flight line and other site level maintenance and repair actions on an Unmanned LightSport Aircraft in a training environment
  • Ensure daily completion of ground servicing and maintenance actions to certify airworthiness ofthe aircraft and systems
  • Conduct scheduled inspections and complete follow-up maintenance actions, as required
  • Maintain Aircraft and Engine digital and paper maintenance and configuration logs formaintenance action performed on aircraft
  • Troubleshoot, install, and repair aircraft electrical systems per schematics, diagrams, and faultisolation manuals using a multimeter and/or other types of test equipment
  • Inspect and assess aircraft structures and laminated materials for defects and recommend orcomplete repair action as required
  • Provide quality control and/or procedure verification reviews on maintenance manuals
  • Provide timely logistics and quality assurance recommendations when required.
  • Work cohesively with other members of a deployed team to meet daily objectives for maintenanceactions and flight operations
  • Utilize emerging software technologies for maintenance documentation and flight operationssupport
  • Perform other duties as required.

Qualifications and Competencies

  • Knowledge and experience with Aircraft Systems, subsystems and their Theory of Operation
  • Knowledge and experience with Aircraft Technical Manuals (General Systems, Job Guides, FaultIsolation, etc...)
  • Experience working with ROTAX 91X series engines preferred
  • Any composite/fiberglass fabrication and repair experience is highly desired
  • Pass a background check and drug screen
  • Ability to work cohesively in a high performing team environment
  • Ability to meet all requirements to deploy to the CENTCOM AOR
  • Valid motor vehicle driver's license
  • Must be eligible to deploy to an OCONUS

Education / Certifications

  • Current Class III medical certificate or ability to obtain prior to start date
  • FAA Airframe and Powerplant Certificate and/or Inspection Authorization (IA) preferred
  • Advanced Technical or associate degree preferred

Experience

  • 8+ years Flight Line or Unmanned Aerial System (UAS) maintenance and flight operationsexperience (preferably deployed)

Security Clearance

  • Ability to obtain/maintain a Secret DoD clearance, U.S. Citizenship required.
