Job summary

M&T Bank is seeking a Commercial Credit Analyst to support underwriting and ongoing monitoring of a portfolio of credit relationships in Buffalo, NY. You will analyze financial statements, assess risk, and prepare independent credit analyses to guide decisions.

Responsibilities include reviewing data, presenting findings, and collaborating with relationship managers to maintain accurate risk ratings through the loan life cycle. A Bachelor’s degree and 1 year of experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics or related field.
• Minimum of one year’s work experience in commercial credit, public accounting, financial statement preparation/analysis, or other financial analysis.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office.

Responsibilities

• Facilitate the credit needs of customers by analyzing new requests and material modifications from deal screen through approval and for the life of the loan.
• Manage ongoing credit risk of existing loan portfolios through CCM activities including annual reviews, interim update memos, covenant monitoring, problem loan management, early warning indicators, and other credit surveillance.
• Review financial information and determine need for further investigation or additional information.
• Analyze financial data and complete credit analyses including risk rating, risks, mitigants, and market trends.
• Make structure recommendations based on scenarios including base case and downside case.
• Identify suspicious activity and ensure risk alignment with customer interests.
• Partner with relationship managers throughout the credit process to maintain accurate risk ratings.
• Spread financial statements and prepare cash flow, collateral, and covenant sensitivity analyses.
