Job Summary:

The Senior Credit Officer in the second line of defense reviews, challenges, and approves transactions, acting as the primary contact with Front Office Business and Risk/Underwriting teams. This role supports structured solutions businesses, focusing on credit risks related to FX, derivatives, and private equity funds. The candidate will oversee a portfolio of clients in these areas.

Major Responsibilities:

  1. Structured Solutions Coverage: Responsible for credit exposures from structured credit transactions involving various assets, including corporate credit and LP interests in PE funds. Collaborates with Front Office teams on structuring, underwriting, and review processes.
  2. Structuring and Underwriting: Works with Business Lines to identify prospective transactions aligning with MUFG risk appetite, assesses structural risks, participates in client due diligence, and provides oversight on existing portfolios.
  3. Counterparty Credit Support: Supports establishing trading limits for FX and derivatives for fund and FIG counterparties, ensuring documentation and risk mitigation align with MUFG standards, and providing independent credit risk assessments.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's degree in a related field.
  • 10+ years of experience in structured credit or counterparty credit roles, either in the first or second line of defense, on buy or sell sides.
  • Expertise in asset-based financing structures, market terms, and complex transaction assessment across collateral types.
  • Experience in a risk management role within a financial institution is advantageous.
  • Strong communication skills in both written and verbal formats.
