Job summary

BOK Financial Corporation is seeking a Credit Risk Manager - Commercial to provide advice on loan structure and underwriting due diligence across markets. You will review loan requests within authority and guide the approval process for larger deals, while coaching the underwriting team.

You will partner with Commercial Relationship Managers and leadership, shape underwriting guidelines, and help advance risk controls.

Qualifications

  • Comprehensive knowledge of accounting and credit principles and loan analysis.
  • Deep knowledge of Commercial/Private Bank lending policy, procedures and loan documentation.
  • Knowledge of the Loan Grading Process.
  • Excellent analytical skills regarding loan/credit policy; strong oral and written communication.
  • PC and spreadsheet software skills.

Responsibilities

  • Evaluate and approve Commercial Banking loan requests within established loan authority.
  • Lead the approval review process for larger requests that exceed the position’s authority.
  • Advise on existing and new loan requests to Commercial Relationship Managers and leadership.
  • Advise on collateral considerations, loan covenants, and recommend enhancements as necessary.
  • Review alternative loan requests as delegated by the Sr. Credit Risk Manager and assist with other strategic projects as assigned.
  • Coordinate and help develop processes and procedures for the operations and control of the Commercial Bank lending functions.
  • Shape the credit team’s desired culture and hold team members accountable for meeting performance standards.
  • Recommend enhancements to underwriting guidelines, processes, and procedures.

Job Description

The Credit Risk Manager- Commercial is primarily responsible for providing advice and counsel on proper loan structure and underwriting due diligence to Commercial Banking Managers and account officers in all markets. Another key responsibility is to review and approve loan requests within the position’s established loan authority, and to lead the approval review process for requests that exceed this authority. Responsibility also includes the management and coaching of direct reports within the underwriting team on education, training, and qualitative performance deliverables.

How You'll Spend Your Time
  • You will evaluate and approve Commercial Banking loan requests for relationships within the established loan authority for the position.
  • You will lead the approval review process for larger requests that exceed the position’s established loan authority.
  • You will provide advice and guidance to Commercial Relationship Managers and leadership on both existing and new loan requests, including the most complex loans.
  • You will advise on collateral considerations, loan covenants, and recommend enhancements as necessary to promote credit quality.
  • You will review alternative loan requests as delegated by the Sr. Credit Risk Manager and assist with other strategic projects as assigned.
  • You will coordinate and help develop the processes and procedures for the operations and control of the Commercial Bank lending functions.
  • You will help shape the credit team’s desired culture and hold team members accountable for meeting established performance standards.
  • You will recommend enhancements to and ensure adherence to Commercial Bank underwriting guidelines, processes, and procedures.
Education & Experience Requirements

This level of knowledge is normally acquired through completion of a Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or Accounting and 10+ years of commercial and/or private banking lending and underwriting in a centralized underwriting environment; 5+ years of loan approval experience in commercial lending; or 16+ years of equivalent work related experience.

MBA in Finance or Accounting preferred, but not required when work experience mitigates such.

  • Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of accounting and credit principles, lending functions, and credit loan analysis
  • Comprehensive/In depth knowledge and understanding of Commercial and Private Bank lending policy, procedures and loan documentation requirements.
  • Comprehensive knowledge of the Loan Grading Process
  • Excellent analytical skills regarding loan/credit policyExcellent oral and written communication skills
  • PC and spreadsheet software skills
