Job summary

Vitol in Houston seeks a risk professional to assess and manage credit risk for counterparties across the Americas, coordinating with global credit teams and trading. The role requires strong contract analysis and language skills in Spanish or Portuguese.

The candidate will negotiate credit provisions, monitor exposure, and implement risk mitigations while supporting commercial teams in structuring complex regional deals and reporting sectoral risk to senior management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field and 3 years of experience in credit risk management or settlement risk management in an energy or financial institution
• Master’s degree in Business Administration, Finance, or a related field and 1 year of experience in credit risk management or settlement risk management in an energy or financial institution

Responsibilities

• Assess and manage Vitol’s credit risk with counterparties in the Americas, coordinating with credit teams
• Negotiate credit provisions within commercial and credit support agreements
• Provide surveillance of the portfolio and notify Credit and Trading managers of significant events
• Implement risk mitigation solutions, including sale of receivables and use of credit risk insurance
• Support commercial and business development teams in structuring and monitoring complex regional structures
• Prepare global sectorial exposure reports for senior management
• Develop relationships with credit teams of trading counterparties
