Qualifications

Manage, coordinate, and administer credit-related risk program activities including risk identification, risk measurement, risk governance and risk reporting. Assist the Head of Credit Portfolio Strategy, Governance & Modernization and the Senior Credit Portfolio Strategy, Governance & Modernization Manager in the preparation of key deliverables and materials for enterprise risk programs. Support the team's Credit Portfolio Strategy and Modernization responsibilities through portfolio analysis, development of management insights, coordination of modernization initiatives, and preparation of executive-ready deliverables. Use strong analytical and Excel skills to analyze credit data, identify trends, and improve reporting and processes. Provide credit risk program and governance subject‑matter expertise in preparation for control testing, audits and regulatory examinations. Manage projects and initiatives supporting credit portfolio strategy, governance and modernization. Provide subject‑matter expertise in the review of Credit Risk Inventories, Credit Key Risk Indicators, and related credit processes, policies and procedures. Assist with the preparation and administration of Credit Committee and Working Group materials and meetings. Serve as a thought leader for credit process change, modernization and efficiency. Act as a liaison to Audit Directors, Credit Risk Review Officers, and Business Unit Execution and Risk Officers.

Credit Risk Management Organization encompasses Credit Policy; Wholesale and Retail Senior Credit Officers; Credit Portfolio Strategy, Governance & Modernization; Centralized Lending Unit; Allowance & Credit Quality Analytics and Asset Resolution Group.

Credit Risk Program works with the Business Units providing independent risk challenge and oversight of the First Line of Defense credit risk activities. Key aspects of that include:

  • Achieving prudent growth within the Truist Credit Risk Appetite
  • Providing independent credit adjudication
  • Establishing credit policies, procedures, processes, and standards to guide risk management execution.
  • Overseeing the First Line of Defense’s identification and assessment of current and emerging risks
  • Management of concentration risk and portfolio targets
  • Management of problem assets
  • Execution of the Allowance for Loan and Lease Losses process

  • Manage, coordinate, and administer risk program activities including credit risk identification, measurement, governance and reporting including the preparation of program reporting.
  • Ensure adherence to governance requirements of the Enterprise Risk Identification, Risk Measurement, Risk Governance and Risk Reporting programs including monthly and quarterly updates to their respective systems of record and related Senior Management and Board level reporting.
  • Provide credit risk program and governance subject-matter-expertise to Risk Management Organization leadership, Credit Delivery organizations, and Business Unit Execution and Risk Officers as needed in the preparation of the credit portion of control testing, audits and Regulatory examinations.
  • Support the Credit Portfolio Strategy, Governance & Modernization team in preparing key deliverables and materials for enterprise risk programs, portfolio strategy discussions, and modernization initiatives.
  • Manage projects and initiatives that advance credit portfolio strategy, governance, modernization, process improvement, data quality and reporting capabilities.
  • Provide credit subject‑matter expertise in the review of Credit Risk Inventories, Credit Key Risk Indicators, and related credit processes, policies and procedures; analyze credit and portfolio data using Excel and other tools to identify trends, develop insights, and support management decision‑making.
  • Maintain solid rapport and coordinate Credit Risk Management activities with other areas of Enterprise Risk as required including Enterprise and Operational Risk Management, Regulatory Relations, Market and Liquidity Risk, Compliance Risk, Technology Risk, and the Business Unit Execution and Risk Officers.
  • Liaison on assigned credit risk program matters with Audit Directors, Credit Risk Review Officers, and Business Unit Execution and Risk Officers.
  • Support the Head of Credit Portfolio Strategy, Governance & Modernization and the Senior Credit Portfolio Strategy, Governance & Modernization Manager with executive ad hoc analysis, reporting and presentation materials.
  • Serve on various task forces or Working Groups representing Enterprise Credit Risk.
  • Coach, mentor and develop teammates.
Qualifications
Required Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or Accounting or equivalent education and related training.
  • Ten+ years of bank credit risk related experience.
  • Excellent skills in credit risk identification, measurement, governance and reporting activities.
  • Meaningful Supervisory experience.
  • Demonstrated excellent problem-solving skills.
  • Strong talent for influencing those with higher levels of authority.
  • Ability to think strategically, multi‑task and drive change.
  • Strong quantitative, governance and analytical abilities, including advanced Excel skills and the ability to work with large or complex data sets, identify trends, and translate analysis into clear business insights.

  • Proven ability to communicate with various constituencies including Senior Management.
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
  • Advanced degrees in Business, Finance or Accounting.
  • Fifteen+ years of risk management experience in financial services or related field.
  • Experience supporting credit portfolio strategy, data analysis, reporting, process improvement, or modernization and transformation initiatives.
