Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field, or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years of commercial credit and collections experience.
  • 5+ years California mechanics-lien and preliminary-notice experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory/management experience in credit/collections.
  • Experience in commercial credit, construction lending, or building materials distribution.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit, accounts receivable, and collection practices.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and make sound credit decisions.
  • Excellent leadership, communication, negotiation, and conflict-resolution skills.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
  • Preferred NACM certifications: CBA, CBF, or CCE.

Responsibilities

  • Direct the Company's commercial credit program, including credit evaluations, limit recommendations, and risk management.
  • Oversee mechanics' lien process, including notices, filings, releases, and coordination with legal counsel.
  • Monitor accounts receivable performance and reduce delinquency while supporting sales relationships.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Collections Team with consistent practices.
  • Manage complex or escalated collection matters and negotiate payment arrangements.
  • Ensure compliance with lien laws and protect company rights on construction projects.
  • Partner with Sales, Branch Ops, and Finance to balance customer service with sound credit decisions.
  • Analyze customer financial information, payment trends, and performance to support credit recommendations.
  • Foster accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement in the Credit Department.
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures, metrics, and internal controls.

Position Summary

The Credit Manager is responsible for leading the Company's credit and collections functions while protecting company assets through effective credit risk management, collection practices, and lien administration. This position oversees the daily operations of the Credit Department, supervises the Collections Team, and partners closely with Sales, Operations, and Finance to support profitable growth while minimizing financial risk. In addition to departmental leadership, the Credit Manager maintains responsibility for complex customer accounts, conducts collection activities as needed, administers mechanics' lien processes, and ensures compliance with company policies and applicable laws.

Responsibilities:
  • Direct the Company's commercial credit program, including customer credit evaluations, credit limit recommendations, and ongoing account risk management.
  • Oversee the Company's mechanics' lien process, including preliminary notices, lien filings, lien releases, and coordination with legal counsel when appropriate.
  • Monitor accounts receivable performance and implement strategies that reduce delinquency and bad debt while supporting customer relationships and sales growth.
  • Lead, coach, and develop the Collections Team while ensuring consistent collection practices and timely follow-up on outstanding accounts.
  • Personally manage complex or escalated collection matters, negotiate payment arrangements, and resolve disputed balances when necessary.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable lien laws and protect the Company's rights on construction projects.
  • Partner with Sales, Branch Operations, and Finance to balance customer service with sound credit decisions.
  • Analyze customer financial information, payment trends, and account performance to support informed credit recommendations and financial reporting.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, professionalism, and continuous improvement within the Credit Department.
  • Develop and maintain departmental procedures, performance metrics, and internal controls to improve efficiency and safeguard company assets.
Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or a related field. Equivalent experience may be considered.
  • 5+ years of commercial credit and collections experience.
  • 5+ years of hands-on California mechanics-lien and preliminary-notice experience.
  • 2+ years of supervisory or management experience leading a credit/collections team.
  • Experience in commercial credit, construction lending, or building materials distribution.
  • Strong understanding of commercial credit, accounts receivable, and collection practices.
  • Ability to analyze financial information and make sound credit decisions.
