Job summary

Qualifications

• High school graduate or GED equivalent.
• 2–3 years of experience in medical billing and collections, or satisfactory completion of internal billing/self-pay billing assessment.
• Excellent written and verbal communication with positive oriented interpersonal skills.
• Knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office products and Windows PC functionality.
• Must be able to interpret information to determine patient age-related care needs and follow policies.

Responsibilities

• Researches and resolves credit balances on self-pay and insurance lines.
• Refunds overpayments or transfers payments to the correct accounts.
• Returns phone calls, referrals, or emails promptly and courteously.
• Understands payer regulations and explains EOBs to patients.
• Performs filing and data entry as assigned.
• Identifies barriers to efficient departmental operations and suggests solutions.
• Handles inquiries from patients, payers, staff and reports issues to Leadership.
• Maintains productivity levels per team standards.
• Attends staff meetings and training; may be remote or onsite per policy.
