Job summary

UMB Financial Corporation is seeking a Senior Credit Analyst to join our Commercial Banking & Lending team in Kansas City. You will analyze borrowers' credit standing and account relationships, generate formal write-ups, and complete complex spreads and narratives.

You will train less experienced analysts and guide the department manager in workflow and reporting. You will develop expertise in a lending vertical, contribute to monthly/quarterly reporting, and participate in interdepartment

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business administration, finance or accounting.
  • 6 hours of accounting required.
  • 2+ years credit analysis or related experience.
  • Demonstrates mastery of financial analysis skills.
  • Proficient in all credit analysis skills for complex write-ups.
  • Ability to provide constructive feedback to peers.
  • Proficient in Word, Excel, and Windows.
  • Ability to work with diverse teams across the Bank, both remotely and in person.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Proficiency in Capital Stream and Loan Accounting Systems.

Responsibilities

  • Generate formal credit write-ups analyzing a borrower's creditworthiness and account relationships.
  • Independently complete spreads, financial and industry analysis, and write-ups.
  • Become subject matter expert in at least one lending vertical.
  • Assist department manager with training materials and workflow management.
  • Provide backup to department management when needed.
  • Complete monthly and quarterly reports (Board Report, Reg O, Supervisory Loan to Value).
  • Participate in rotations through other bank partner departments when available.

Job description

UMB Commercial Banking & Lendingprovides a comprehensive solution to commercial organizations of all sizes.On this Credit Analyst team, you gain the knowledge and skill to understand UMB’s Commercial lending philosophy. You will gain broad understanding of loan processes and gain the skills needed to grow your career in UMB’s Commercial Lending team. As the Credit Analyst Sr, you will analyze commercial borrower's credit standing and account relationships with UMB and their specific industry through the creation of spreads and write-ups. This Senior Credit Analyst role will be assigned complex loan write-ups and will guide the training of less experienced analysts by providing timely review and appropriate feedback to the analyst and to the department manager.

How you’ll spend your time:

Generate formal credit write-ups which analyze a commercial borrower’s creditworthiness and account relationship with UMB. This does include independently completing spreads, financial analysis, industry analysis, relationship description & profitability analysis and written narrative for the same. Write-ups are evaluated by loan officers and senior management. Become the department subject matter expert in at least one lending vertical (i.e. agricultural analysis, oil & gas (energy) lending, shared national credits, commercial real estate or others). Assist the department manager in the development and maintenance of training materials for the department; the management of the department workflow and assign incoming requests to analysts as needed; and provide backup to the overall management of the department when the manager is out of the office or as requested. Complete monthly and quarterly reports correctly and on‑time. This includes but is not limited to: Board Report, Reg O, and Supervisory Loan to Value. The audience for these reports is the UMBF board of directions and other senior management. As available, there is potential for further development opportunities by satisfactorily completing working Rotations through other bank partner departments including but not limited to: Commercial Underwriting, Strategic Asset Management, Loan Administration, Loan Review, Business Banking Underwriting, Capital Markets, etc.

  • Bachelors degree in business administration, finance or accounting
  • Minimum of 6 hours of accounting
  • 2-yeasr credit analysis or other applicable accounting or financial services experience
  • Demonstrates mastery and proper application of financial analysis skills
  • Proficient in all credit analysis skills, with the ability to handle complex credit write-ups
  • Ability to appropriately provide constructive feedback to peers
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Windows
  • Demonstrates ability to work with diverse teams that encompasses all levels of associates from various areas of the Bank, by phone and in person
  • Demonstrates strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Demonstrates proficiency in Capital Stream and Loan Accounting Systems
Bonus Points if You Have:
  • 3+-years credit analysis or other loan related experience
  • Previous training experience

Compensation Range: $59,085 - $86,922
