Job summary

First Mid Bancshares, Inc. seeks a seasoned credit analyst to perform in-depth analyses of commercial and agricultural loans and review complex financial statements. You will prepare presentations for loan officers and committees, assess repayment capacity, and monitor risk ratings.

Collaborate with loan officers to understand credits, train junior staff, and contribute to credit-related projects and reporting within a dynamic banking environment.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or commensurate banking experience in a lending or credit function.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis or banking industry.
  • Formal advanced training in Microsoft Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform credit analyses and financial statement reviews of complex loans, industries, and commercial and ag loan relationships.
  • Create professional credit presentations that summarize borrower’s complex financial condition and evaluate repayment capacity and collateral coverage.
  • Monitor loan requests and assign risk ratings based on lending policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Research industry information from outside sources and provide analysis.
  • Investigate sources of credit and financial information (credit bureaus, Experian, RMA, industry trends).
  • Assist with training of less tenured analysts.
  • Review work of analysts and provide feedback.
  • Meet with commercial customers with loan officers to foster relationships and enhance credit understanding.
  • Support other credit-related reporting, tracking, and monitoring.

Job description

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program.Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills,internal equity,and experience.This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Responsible for conducting in-depth credit analyses for new and existing commercial and ag loan relationships.Conduct financial statement review for loan officers, as well as comprehensive statement spreading.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform credit analyses and financial statement reviews of complex loans, industries, and commercial and ag loan relationships.
  • Create professional credit presentations that summarize borrower’s complex financial condition and evaluate repayment capacity and collateral coverage. Make recommendations, tied to analysis, to loan officers and/or loan committee.
  • Monitor loan requests and assign risk ratings that are based on established writtenlending policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Research industry specific information from outside sources and provide analysis.
  • Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information, including credit bureaus, Experian Business Credit, the Risk Management Association, industry trends and other companies.
  • Assist with training of less tenured analysts.
  • Review work of analysts and provide feedback.
  • Meet with commercial customers of the Bank on a scheduled basis in conjunction with the loan officers to foster relationships and enhance the Bank’s understanding of credits.
  • Support other segments of Credit Analysis as assigned, such as miscellaneous loan or credit related reporting, tracking, and monitoring.
  • Participate in credit-related projects and complete training associated with job function.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or commensurate banking experience in a lending or credit function.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis or banking industry.
  • Formal advanced training in Microsoft Excel preferred.
