Job summary

First Mid is seeking a Credit Analyst to conduct in-depth credit analyses for commercial and agricultural loan relationships, review financial statements, and prepare presentations for loan officers and committees. You will monitor requests, assign risk ratings, and support training for junior analysts as part of a dynamic team.

The role emphasizes thorough data gathering, regulatory awareness, and collaboration with loan officers to foster strong client relationships and accurate credit

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or commensurate banking experience.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis or banking industry.
  • Formal advanced training in Microsoft Excel preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Perform credit analyses and financial statement reviews of complex loans and commercial/agr loan relationships.
  • Create professional credit presentations summarizing borrower financial condition and repayment capacity.
  • Monitor loan requests and assign risk ratings based on policies and guidelines.
  • Research industry information and provide analysis for lending decisions.
  • Assist with training of less tenured analysts and review their work.

Job description

At First Mid, base salary is one component of our Total Rewards program. Exact compensation is determined by factors such as (but not limited to) education, skills, internal equity, and experience. This position offers additional compensation in the form of discretionary short-term incentives (i.e. bonus, incentives, and/or commission). Responsible for conducting in-depth credit analyses for new and existing commercial and ag loan relationships. Conduct financial statement review for loan officers, as well as comprehensive statement spreading.

Responsibilities include, but are not limited to:
  • Perform credit analyses and financial statement reviews of complex loans, industries, and commercial and ag loan relationships.
  • Create professional credit presentations that summarize borrower’s complex financial condition and evaluate repayment capacity and collateral coverage. Make recommendations, tied to analysis, to loan officers and/or loan committee.
  • Monitor loan requests and assign risk ratings that are based on established written lending policies and regulatory guidelines.
  • Research industry specific information from outside sources and provide analysis.
  • Investigate all available sources of credit and financial information, including credit bureaus, Experian Business Credit, the Risk Management Association, industry trends and other companies.
  • Assist with training of less tenured analysts.
  • Review work of analysts and provide feedback.
  • Meet with commercial customers of the Bank on a scheduled basis in conjunction with the loan officers to foster relationships and enhance the Bank’s understanding of credits.
  • Support other segments of Credit Analysis as assigned, such as miscellaneous loan or credit related reporting, tracking, and monitoring.
  • Participate in credit-related projects and complete training associated with job function.
Qualifications
Education/Experience:
  • Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or Business Administration and/or commensurate banking experience in a lending or credit function.
  • 3+ years of experience in commercial credit analysis or banking industry.
  • Formal advanced training in Microsoft Excel preferred.
