Job summary

SSAB in Pittsburgh is seeking a skilled Credit Analyst to perform customer credit reviews, analyze financial statements, determine limits and payment terms, and finalize new or reactivated accounts. You will mitigate risk by evaluating credit status and deciding whether to hold or release orders while ensuring accurate aging and timely invoicing.

You will collaborate with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing and Global Services to strengthen internal client relationships and improve cash

Qualifications

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or related field, or equivalent combo of education and experience.
  • 3–4+ years in finance, banking or accounting roles.
  • Understanding of credit risk assessments and financial statements.
  • Ability to interpret credit reports and rating agency assessments.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication, highly organized.

Responsibilities

  • Complete customer credit reviews and financial statement analysis to determine appropriate credit limits and payment terms.

  • Run and compile a weekly aging report to ensure timely invoice settlements.
  • Coordinate with cash applications and sales to apply payments and resolve debits.

Job description

Duties and responsibilities
  • Complete customer credit reviews and financial statement analysis to determine appropriate credit limits and payment terms.
  • Review and finalize new customer account applications and reactivations.
  • Evaluate customer credit status to hold or release orders while mitigating risk exposure.
  • Run and work a weekly aging report to secure timely invoice settlement.
  • Work with cash applications and sales to ensure customer payments are applied and debits resolved.
  • Run month and quarter closes, and any other reports as needed.
  • Foster relationships with Sales, Supply Chain, Finance, Marketing and Global Services employees; to include continually seeking and capitalizing upon opportunities to increase internal client satisfaction and deepen customer relationships.
Qualifications

Required Education & Experience:

  • Degree in Finance, Accounting, Economics or a related field from an accredited College or University, or an equivalent combination of education & experience, such as a professional certification as a credit risk analyst or in financial statement analysis
  • 3 - 4+ years of increasingly responsible experience performing professional duties in the field of finance, banking or accounting
  • Understanding of credit risk assessments and financial statements
  • Ability to interpret credit reports and rating agency assessments
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, including ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers, extremely organized
  • Excellent computer proficiency (SAP B1, MS Office – Word, Excel, PowerPoint and Outlook)
  • Must be able to work under pressure and meet deadlines, while maintaining a positive attitude and providing exemplary customer service
  • Ability to work independently and as a team member to carry out assignments to completion within parameters of instructions given, prescribed routines, and standard accepted practices
  • Strong attention to details, analytical skills, exceptional judgment, dependable, excellent teamwork skills, good time management skills, creative, problem-solving, hardworking & persistent, professional competence, proactive
  • Current/active driver’s license
Working conditions

Travel 10% of time for meetings at other SSAB locations, trainings, seminars & conferences as needed
