Job summary

Commerce Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst to evaluate commercial credits by performing financial analysis on a wide range of companies. You will prepare credit packets, financial spreads, and assist with loan structuring and documentation.

Ideal candidates have a business degree with accounting/finance coursework and 1+ year experience in credit analysis, with proficiency in Excel and Moody’s CreditLens. Location is Kansas City, MO and the role is full-time.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field, finance or accounting preferred.
• 6 credit hours of Accounting and 9 credit hours of Finance required.
• 1+ year credit or financial analyst experience preferred.

Responsibilities

• Analyze commercial credits by conducting financial analysis on diverse companies.
• Prepare Credit Approval Summary packets manually and via Moody’s CreditLens.
• Create financial statement spreads and related credit items.
• Perform basic to moderate financial analyses for loan requests.
• Learn loan structuring, cash flow and loan documentation basics.
• Support loan committee secretary functions and onboarding training activities.

Compensation Range Hourly: $26.70 - $31.50 (Amount based on relevant experience, skills, and competencies.)

About This Job

The main purpose of this job is to be responsible for analyzing commercial credits by conducting comprehensive financial analysis on companies of diverse industries and sizes.

Essential Functions

• Prepare Credit Approval Summary packets (minimal to moderate complexity) manually and through Moody’s CreditLens
• Prepare financial statement spreads and other credit related items as needed (minimal to moderate complexity)
• Perform basic to moderate financial analysis on companies of diverse industries and sizes for commercial loan requests working to research and learn loan structuring and cash flow
• Research and understand basic to moderate level loan documentation and various bank systems
• Submit work for feedback and analysis
• Share beginner level knowledge with others during training and onboarding process
• Exposure to and/or performance of simple pricing worksheets for loan and relationship profitability
• Exposure to loan committee secretary function
• Perform other duties as assigned

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities

• Basic to intermediate knowledge of financial concepts and financial statements utilizing financial and accounting principles
• Basic to intermediate understanding of key financial metrics such as cashflow, leverage and debt service coverage
• Basic understanding of loan structure including cashflow thresholds, collateral pools, covenants and other risk mitigating techniques
• Beginner level knowledge of Moody’s CreditLens
• Motivated and organized with strong attention to detail and the ability to manage priorities with oversight
• Inquisitive, agile and strong team player with excellent written, verbal and interpersonal communication skills
• Ability to remain adaptable and resilient to most situations with an optimistic outlook and cast a positive shadow that is aligned with our culture and Core Values
• Intermediate level proficiency with Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in a Business related field, with a preference for majors in Finance or Accounting, or equivalent combination of education and experience required
• 6 credit hours of Accounting, or related coursework and 9 credit hours of Finance, or related coursework required
• 1+ year prior credit or financial analyst experience preferred
