Role

To support the Bank's commercial lending function by performing financial, industry, economic and collateral analysis on some of the larger and more complex commercial credit relationships. This position assists Commercial Relationship Managers and Credit Admin. in evaluating credit requests, completing annual relationship reviews, and monitoring existing borrowing relationships. The Credit Analyst prepares credit approval memorandums, analyzes repayment capacity, identifies key risks, mitigating factors, and provides independent credit analysis in accordance with Bank policy and underwriting standards.

Essential Functions & Responsibilities
  • 35% Perform detailed financial analysis and spreading of business and personal financial statements, tax returns, rent rolls, and other financial information. Calculate financial ratios, global cash flow, debt service coverage, leverage metrics, liquidity measures, and other credit-related performance indicators.
  • 30% Prepare Credit Approval Memorandums (CAMs) for new and existing commercial relationships. Analyze loan purpose, sources of repayment, collateral support, guarantor strength, industry considerations, and overall credit risk. Analyzing and underwriting the Bank's larger and more complex commercial credit relationships.
  • 15% Analyze projections and prepare stress testing, sensitivity analyses, and other financial modeling as needed to evaluate borrower performance under varying economic and operational scenarios.
  • 10% Conduct industry, economic, and market research to identify trends, risks, opportunities, and other factors that may affect borrower performance and repayment capacity.
  • 5% Assist with portfolio monitoring activities, including covenant compliance review, risk rating assessments, and preparation of annual relationship reviews.
  • 5% Performs other duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements
  • 1. Produce accurate, well-supported, and timely credit analyses and loan presentations.
  • 2. Maintain a strong understanding of Bank loan policy, underwriting standards, and regulatory requirements.
  • 3. Effectively identify and communicate key risks, and mitigating factors.
  • 4. Complete assigned credit requests, reviews, and renewals within a timely manner.
  • 5. Maintain confidentiality of customer and Bank information.
  • 6. Develop effective working relationships with Relationship Managers, Credit Officers, and other Bank associates.
  • 7. Demonstrate strong attention to detail and commitment to sound credit practices set forth in the Bank's loan policy.
  • 8. Complete required training and continue professional development in commercial credit and banking as needed to increase job knowledge.
  • 9. Comply with the Bank's Code of Business Conduct and Ethics, Bank Secrecy Act, and all applicable laws and regulations.
Knowledge and Skills
Experience

Three years to five years of similar or related experience.

Education

(1) A bachelor's degree, or (2) achievement of formal certifications recognized in the industry as equivalent to a bachelor's degree (e.g. information technology certifications in lieu of a degree).

Interpersonal Skills

The position requires effective communication and collaboration with lenders, Credit Administration personnel, and other Bank associates. The ability to obtain information, identify information gaps, and clearly communicate analytical findings is critical. Strong organizational skills, attention to detail, and the ability to work independently while contributing to a team environment are essential.

  • 2. Proficiency in word processing, internet researching, multitasking, and spreadsheet software.
  • 3. Must be capable of operating all types of office equipment including computer, copy machine, fax, and telephone.
Physical Requirements

The person in this position needs to frequently move about inside the office to interact with associates and access office machinery and file cabinets. The person in the position constantly operates a computer and other office productivity machinery, such as a calculator, photocopier, and printer.
