Job summary

First Horizon Bank is seeking a Credit Analyst II to provide analytical support for underwriting commercial credit facilities and to assist Portfolio Managers and Relationship Managers in managing client relationships.

You will interpret financial statements, spread financials, monitor covenants, and prepare credit documentation while coordinating with PMs and RMs to ensure timely, accurate decisions and compliance with bank policy.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.) in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent.
  • 1–2 years of experience in Financial Services or Banking.
  • Understanding of commercial lending processes.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented.
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Clear written and verbal communication.

Responsibilities

  • Interpret financial statements and provide financial analysis in underwriting complex C&I and commercial real estate loans.
  • Spread financial statements and prepare analysis documents; update requests, renewals and annual reviews in the loan system.
  • Track covenants, monitor industry trends and support policy compliance.
  • Prepare credit approval documentation reflecting terms, collateral and inputs.
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers to monitor assigned loan portfolios and performance.
  • Identify material changes in borrowers' financial statements for presentations.
  • Participate in internal and external credit meetings with PMs, RMs and senior management.
  • Support portfolio management projects and drive ownership of metrics.
  • Perform all other duties as assigned.

  • Work proactively to ensure production is prioritized appropriately and completed in a timely manner. Specific tasks include financial statement spreading; completing financial analysis documents; updating and creating new requests, modifications, renewals and annual reviews in the Bank’s commercial loan system; tracking and completing covenant monitoring, completing industry research and developing a strong understanding of the Bank’s commercial loan policy.
  • Participate in relationship team meetings with management and credit partners to explain information in the analysis when warranted.
  • Analyze and prepare credit approval documentation in FHB’s commercial loan system. Credit Analyst II is responsible for accurately reflecting all loan terms, collateral, covenants, loan grade inputs, policy exceptions, and calculating credit exposure for a given relationship in the commercial loan system.
  • Partner with Portfolio Managers to monitor and manage assigned commercial loan portfolios. This responsibility includes tracking covenants, recording financial statements, and monitoring company performance against expectations. Credit Analyst II is responsible not only for accurate calculations and inputs but also for thoughtful implementation of policies, procedures, and guidelines.
  • Identify and report material changes or trends in the financial statements of borrowers or guarantors observed in the preparation of credit approval presentations
  • Participate in internal credit conversations with PM’s, RM’s Credit Officers and senior management and in external meetings with clients and prospects.
  • The successful candidate will demonstrate consistently high level of ownership of portfolio management metrics and team initiatives, flexibility in responding to RM/PM/senior management and client deadlines, high level of detail and follow-through, and independence within the framework of the role in assisting in achieving business goals.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree (B.A.), preferably in Accounting, Finance or Business or equivalent in specific work experience.
  • 1-2 years of experience or equivalent combination of education and experience related to Financial Services, Banking, Credit Analysis, Loan Review or similar background preferred
  • Fundamental understanding of general bank operations and the commercial lending process.
  • Familiarity with the processes used to analyze financial data.
  • Highly organized and detail oriented
  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and adhere to deadlines while delivering a high-quality work product.
  • Entry-level understanding of general bank operations and the commercial lending process
  • Ability to understand and communicate information and ideas in a clear and understandable manner, both orally and in writing with business unit teammates and leaders.
