Summary
NCIF is seeking a highly analytical and detail-oriented Portfolio Management Analyst to support portfolio monitoring, risk assessment, financial analysis, covenant tracking, construction draw analysis, and reporting across our lending, equity, and New Market Tax Credit (NMTC) investment portfolio. The ideal candidate is disciplined, organized, and able to evaluate complex financial information, identify potential risks, and produce accurate, high-quality work in a mission driven financial institution.
This role is a key part of NCIF’s portfolio management and risk strategy. The position will drive portfolio monitoring, risk assessment, asset management, covenant tracking, and reporting across lending, NMTC, and equity investing. The role will also support portfolio performance analysis, identify emerging risks, and help strengthen overall portfolio management practices across the lines of business.
Responsibilities
Portfolio and Asset Management
- Evaluate borrowers’ credit data and financial statements in collaboration with Credit Analyst in order to determine the degree of risk in lending money to new borrowers.
- Perform financial statement reviews and analysis on existing and potential borrower. In collaboration with the lending department compile and track financial and non-financial documents from borrower to adhere to loan covenants.
- Assist in the preparation of annual loan review for the NMTC and debt portfolio.
- Monitor loan/investment terms including dividend and loan payments, loan covenants, financial statements, impact reporting, compliance and insurance certificates, etc.
- Maintain ticklers for collecting covenant reports, Impact reports, Insurance certificates and other reports associated with a loan.
- Review appraisals, environmental and other due diligence items for loans on the portfolio.
- Market research and analyses: benchmark economic activity in target markets by tracking rents, sales per square foot, and operating costs of properties.

Construction Loan Administration
- Process, post, and maintain files on draw requests per department policies and procedures.
- Evaluate and recommend approval or denial of requests for funding, report on the status of project with respect to budget and timeliness.
- Create construction loan disbursement files in accordance with existing processes and procedures.
- Enter disbursement on the construction loan platform/loan servicing system.
- Order and review title updates from title companies, identify, and communicate issues for each construction draw request.
- Analyze all collateral and ensure compliance to the loan and portfolio and compliance policies and procedures.
Portfolio Insight and Reporting
- Support the maintenance of ticklers for internal and external reporting for the organization.
- Assist in creating monthly, quarterly, semi-annual loan and investment reports.
- Assist in gathering and compiling data to file the CDFI reports on AMIS (Including ILR (Institution level Reports), TLR (Transaction Level Reports)), and other AMIS reporting under supervision of the Head of Department.
- Ensure accuracy, consistency, and completeness in all analytical outputs.
- Track, analyze, and identify portfolio trends, risks, and potential mitigants across NCIF’s lending, equity, and NMTC portfolios.
Requirements

- Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent work experience), preferably in business, accounting, or finance.
- 2- 5 years’ experience in accounting, finance, asset management, real estate, non-profit lending departments.
- Experience working with a CDFI in NMTC or lending compliance/portfolio management (including AMIS) will be a
- Experience in preparing loan portfolio, lender and investor
- Ability to provide compliance-related support and guidance to various business
- Familiarity with construction lending practices and
- Strong attention to detail and analytical skills. Proficiency in MS Office with strong expertise in MS Excel and Google Sheets. Knowledge of Python, data visualization and/or AI tools will be a plus.

- Resident of Chicago or willing to relocate and work on a hybrid schedule.
Preferred
- Experience in community development finance, CDFI and minority banking industry, impact investing, or financial inclusion.
- Familiarity with CDFI, NMTC, USDA, or mission driven lending is a plus.
- Interest in mission-oriented banking, community development finance, and equity-focused economic development.
Location
Candidate is based in Chicago or willing to relocate. Must have permanent work authorization in the US.
