MedStar Health in Washington, DC is seeking a PRN credentialing specialist to support primary source verification and staff appointments. You will import, enter and maintain applicant data in a complex database and coordinate credentialing across Medical Staff offices.

The role requires attention to detail, knowledge of credentialing policies, and strong communication to liaise with hospitals and medical staff. Per diem hours vary, with rotations and weekend coverage.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Associate's degree or Bachelor's degree preferred.
• 3-4 years' credentialing or equivalent experience required.
• Certified Provider Credentialing Specialist (CPCS) preferred; CPMSM preferred.

Responsibilities

• Tracks initial/re-credentialing applications and in-process status.
• Takes action on non-returned applications per policy and time frames.
• Performs primary source verification for initial/re-credentialing applications.
• Tracks queries and initiates follow-up or alternate verification methods as needed.
• Follows up on missing data and discrepancies within established time frames.
• Compares incoming information with applicant data for accuracy and completeness.
• Completes verification within time frames to allow committee reviews.
• Imports reapplications from online portals per CVO policy for data standardization.
• Maintains credentialing database integrity and accurate practitioner records.
• Acts as liaison with affiliated hospitals and Medical Staff Administration offices.
• May process fast-track applications.
• Keeps current on NAMSS/MAMSS credentialing initiatives and online education.
