Job summary

Timberlake Veterinary Hospital in Virginia Beach, VA is seeking a Credentialed Veterinary Technician to join a compassionate, experienced team. The role includes recording medical data, preparing exam rooms, and assisting with medical, dental, and surgical procedures in a well-equipped facility.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT) or License (LVT) required.
• Must have a positive attitude and be a team player.
• At least two years of prior veterinary experience required; prior surgery experience desired.

Responsibilities

• Provide compassionate care to pet patients and their loved ones.
• Keep accurate medical records in accordance with hospital policy.
• Prepare and maintain the exam rooms and treatment areas.
• Perform physical assessments and record observations.
• Prepare estimates for procedures and discuss financial commitments with clients.
• Explain necessary follow-up and home care instructions.
• Stock clinic treatment area and exam rooms; inform inventory manager when supplies need ordering.
• Assist the Veterinarian in medical, surgical, and dental procedures (blood draws; prep for surgery; administer anesthesia; monitor during surgery and recovery).
• Care for all surgical materials and keep the operating room stocked and prepared for surgery.
• Execute treatment orders, including collecting urine samples and administering medications (PO, IM, SQ, SL, IV).
• Run lab work including CBC, Chem, LYTES and urinalysis; prepare samples for external processing.
