Job description

Credentialed Veterinary Technician (CVT)

Banfield Pet Hospital is hiring full-time CVTs for the DC Adams Morgan Hospital located at 1700 Columbia Rd NW, Washington, DC 20009.

The anticipated starting hourly rate for individuals expressing interest in this position is $25 to $36 per hour. Rate to be determined by the schedule, location, experience, skills, and abilities of the applicant.

Who we are

We’re Banfield. You’ve probably seen us around. We started in 1955 as a small practice with big ideas about preventive petcare. We’re now the leading general veterinary care practice in America, where providing high quality preventive care and treatment advances our mission: A BETTER WORLD FOR PETS. We’d love to have you join our team to help in this mission.

We love pets. You know who else we love? CVTs. We enable CVTs to work at the top of their license and provide them resources and training to feel and work their best. A supportive work environment is important at Banfield, and we cultivate a culture and team based on collaboration, networking, and lifting one another up. Banfield’s here for you so you can be there for pets!

Who we’re looking for

We’re looking for CVTs to add their passion, skills, and education to our team. We believe in hiring individuals with diverse perspectives, ideas and cultures who use their expertise in a way that benefits pets, clients, teams, and communities.

Requirements:

  1. Veterinary Technician Licensure, Certification, or Registration (LVT, CVT, or RVT)
  2. Or Vet Tech Students who are currently in the process of graduating and completing accreditation

Being a CVT requires much more than AVMA certified credentials. It means bringing your talents, skills, dedication, and a desire for developing alongside your peers. Most importantly, it means showing up each day with a passion for pets and working with others who believe preventive care is the key to helping pets achieve long and healthy lives. As we do with all our associates, we look to our CVTs to adopt our Five Principles — Quality, Responsibility, Mutuality, Efficiency, and Freedom. And, while your on-paper qualifications are of course important, we actively seek out CVTs who thrive on delivering outstanding client and pet experiences.

Role responsibilities

  1. Support veterinarians to ensure quality veterinary care, advocate for pets, and educate clients.
  2. Assist veterinarians and the medical team to maximize productivity and maintain positive patient flow.
  3. Assist with surgeries and procedures in accordance with your state's Veterinary Practice Act outlined for credentialed veterinary technicians.
  4. Communicate with clients about individualized pet health concerns and offer guidance on Optimum Wellness Plan options, medications, and additional treatments.
  5. Maintain relevant, comprehensive medical records with the support of practice systems, including Banfield’s database, PetWare.
  6. Obtain relevant health history and information from clients and maintain medical charts.
  7. Use safe restraining techniques, follow standard protocols, and sustain clean, sterile, organized treatment areas, exam rooms, and labs.
  8. Guide, mentor, and support fellow team members.

What we offer

We believe in taking care of our employees so they can take care of themselves, their family, and the pets they treat. We value work-life balance too! Here are just a few of the benefits associates are eligible for:

  • Competitive salary with paid time off.
  • Medical, dental, and vision insurance for you and loved ones (full-time only).
  • Competitive referral program.
  • 401(k) Savings Plan.
  • Health Savings Account and Flexible Spending Account.
  • Paid short- and long-term disability, including maternity leave.
  • Paid leave for new parents (full-time only).
  • Optimum Wellness Plans for up to three pets plus discounts on Mars, PetSmart, RoyalCanin, and more.
  • Flexible scheduling.
  • Ability to practice at the top of your license.
  • Opportunities for growth and leadership roles.
  • Dedicated onboarding and development support.
  • Continuing education opportunities paid for by us.
  • Health and well-being benefits to support quality of life.
  • National partner conferences for networking and continuing education.
  • Discount on Fear Free Certification.
  • Practice-paid subscription to NAVTA, VetGirl, and Vetfolio.
  • Associate-led equity, inclusion, and diversity groups.
  • Opportunities to volunteer through Mars Volunteer Program.

Banfield Pet Hospital strongly supports and values the uniqueness of all individuals and promotes a work environment where diversity is embraced. Banfield Pet Hospital is an equal opportunity employer.
