Animal Doctors of South Tampa is seeking a **full-time Certified Veterinary Technician (CVT)** to join our team in a **surgery-focused role**. We are a busy, walk-in veterinary hospital serving the Tampa Bay community with wellness and preventive care, urgent and critical care, dentistry, diagnostics, and a wide variety of surgical procedures.This position is ideal for an experienced CVT who **loves surgery and anesthesia** and wants to take an active role in managing surgical cases from admission through recovery. Our surgical caseload ranges from routine procedures to more advanced soft-tissue and emergency surgeries, including **splenectomies, cystotomies, foreign body surgeries, amputations, enucleations, mass removals, and more.**### Key Responsibilities* Help coordinate and manage daily surgical flow to keep procedures organized, efficient, and safe* Prepare patients for surgery, including IV catheter placement, blood collection, medication administration, and surgical preparation* Induce, monitor, and recover anesthesia while recognizing and responding appropriately to changes in patient status* Assist veterinarians during routine and advanced surgical procedures* Perform dental prophylaxis, dental radiographs, and anesthesia monitoring for dental procedures* Maintain accurate anesthetic, surgical, treatment, and medical records* Prepare and maintain surgical suites, instruments, equipment, and sterile packs* Provide attentive post-operative nursing care, pain assessment, and patient monitoring* Communicate discharge instructions and post-operative care recommendations to clients* Support hospitalized, urgent, and outpatient patients as needed and collaborate with the medical team to maintain efficient hospital flow### Qualifications & Requirements* Veterinary Technician Certification (CVT, RVT, or LVT) **required** – or **eligibility** to obtain licensure based on state requirements.* Ability to work rotating Saturdays* Strong anesthesia monitoring and surgical nursing skills* Comfortable with venipuncture, IV catheter placement, medication administration, radiology, laboratory procedures, and patient monitoring* Ability to confidently prioritize multiple surgical and hospitalized patients* Strong attention to detail, organization, communication, and teamwork* Compassionate and confident handling of dogs and cats* Ability to remain calm and make sound decisions in a fast-paced environment* Ability to work rotating Saturdays and holiday rotations as needed### What We Offer* Competitive compensation* Health, dental, and vision insurance* Paid time off* 401(k) retirement benefits* Continuing education and professional development opportunities* Career development and advancement opportunities* Employee pet-care benefits* Scrub/uniform allowance* Opportunity to **utilize and grow advanced surgical and anesthesia skills*** Supportive and collaborative medical teamIf you are a CVT who is passionate about **surgery, anesthesia, patient care, and taking ownership of surgical workflow**, we would love to meet you!At AmeriVet, we’re committed to your growth, development, well-being, and success.
