GENERAL SUMMARY

Works under the supervision of the Office Manager, Operations Manager, Office Supervisor, and/or Family Health Center Manager. The Credentialed Medical Assistant's primary job function is to assist the provider with patient exams, including collecting data on patient vitals, documenting medical history and current complaints, managing prescriptions, operating medical equipment, and providing patient education. Also responsible for ordering medical supplies and other duties as assigned.

QUALIFICATIONS

Education:

• High School Diploma or equivalent required

Licensure:

• Credentialed Medical Assistant - CMA, RMA, CCMA, NCMA, AMCA required
• BLS certification within 90 days of hire required

Experience:

• Minimum one month of on-the-job training preferred

JOB DUTIES AND PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS

The major duties include:

1. Making phone calls for patient referrals and prescriptions, documenting into patient charts
2. Assisting providers with examinations, procedures, venipuncture, and diagnostic tests
3. Collecting and documenting vitals, complaints, pain assessment, and medical history
4. Ensuring clinical supplies are stocked
5. Reviewing charts for upcoming appointments and pulling lab results
6. Updating medication lists
7. Answering phones, scheduling, and scanning documents
8. Coordinating with Surgery Department and Central Scheduling for procedures
9. Obtaining insurance authorizations/precertifications
10. Collaborating with the healthcare team to meet patient needs
11. Pre-cleaning, decontamination, and transporting used instruments
12. Cross-training to perform MOA duties
13. Floats to other offices as needed
14. Following vaccine and medication policies
15. Handling electronic prescription requests and errors
16. Maintaining medical record documentation as per policies
17. Assisting providers during clinical services and documenting accordingly
18. Performing additional duties as assigned
