Job summary

Free People, part of URBN Urban Outfitters, Inc., is seeking an experienced sewer to join as Creative Technical Assistant Designer to pattern and sew jacket and pant samples for design presentations and prototyping.

You will work closely with the Creative Technical Director and design team to ensure samples are accurate in size, fit, and finish, meeting tight deadlines. The role emphasizes technical sewing skills and pattern interpretation.

Qualifications

• Minimum 5 years sewing experience with wovens.
• Able to quickly sew and produce samples from paper patterns.
• Knowledge of pattern making and sewing construction.
• High level of workmanship with attention to detail and deadlines.
• Strong communication with managers and designers.
• Experience tailoring jackets, outerwear and bottoms with wovens fabrics.
• Extensive experience operating various sewing machines (overlock, coverstitch, etc.).
• CLO 3D experience is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Work with Creative Technical Director, designers, and technical designer to create apparel samples monthly.
• Compare patterns to cut samples to ensure accuracy and consistency.
• Sew samples using appropriate machinery; discuss issues with pattern maker and troubleshoot.
• Add finishing touches and trims per pattern card and tech pack by deadlines.
• Discuss sewing techniques with pattern maker if no sew by sample.
• Handle special projects as assigned.
