Job summary

Kimpton Hotels & Restaurants Careers is seeking a driven sous chef to support the Executive Chef in a high-volume, full-service kitchen. You will lead the kitchen in the Executive Chef's absence, supervise staff, plan menus, and ensure timely, high-quality service to guests.

You'll train and develop a collaborative team, manage scheduling, assist with budgeting, establish standards, and maintain cleanliness and food safety.

Qualifications

• 1+ years of culinary experience in a high-volume, full-service restaurant.
• Bachelor's degree in Culinary Science or related certificate preferred.
• Flexible schedule; able to work weekends, nights, and holidays when needed.
• Excellent interpersonal communication and team leadership qualities.

Responsibilities

• Lead all aspects of the kitchen in the absence of the Executive Chef.
• Interview and hire employees; plan, assign, and direct work; address performance and disciplinary actions.
• Manage kitchen scheduling and supervise staff training and development.
• Maintain budgeted labor costs and assist in controlling overtime.
• Ensure timely preparation of dishes and adherence to quality standards.
• Maintain cleanliness and food safety through daily kitchen inspections and line checks.
