Job summary

City of Valdosta is seeking a Creative Services Coordinator to support the Public Information Office by designing visual materials for city communications, ensuring clarity and brand consistency across channels.

You will produce layouts and templates, assist with campaigns and reports, and collaborate with the Public Information Officer, Community Relations, and Main Street teams to deliver accessible, publication-ready content for citywide audiences.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, or related field preferred.
  • One to two years of experience in media or digital communications preferred.
  • Knowledge of graphic design principles, branding, and accessibility standards.
  • Proficiency with Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and Microsoft Office.
  • Ability to organize multiple design projects and meet deadlines.

Responsibilities

  • Design and produce visual materials for city communications, including layouts, graphics, templates, signage, presentations, reports, and informational materials.
  • Prepare visual materials for the Public Information Officer / Community Relations and Marketing Manager, including graphics, layouts, reports, briefing materials, presentations, and campaign assets.
  • Translate approved content into visually clear and accessible formats for public distribution.
  • Provide visual layout and formatting support for public-facing website content, focusing on presentation and readability.
  • Develop and maintain City-approved and Main Street-approved design templates and visual assets for consistency across departments.
  • Provide graphic design support for Public Information Office campaigns, programs, and initiatives under the direction of the PIO/CRM Manager.
  • Provide graphic design and visual content support for Main Street promotions, events, and initiatives.
  • Prepare graphics and formatted materials for use by the Communications Coordinator and Media Coordinator across their platforms.
  • Assist with image and video formatting, resizing, and visual enhancement for communications use.
  • Maintain organized libraries of approved design assets, templates, and visual materials.
  • Prepare files and specifications for print production or external vendors and ensure compliance with branding standards.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Description

The Creative Services Coordinator supports the Public Information Office by producing visual design, layout, and presentation materials for the City of Valdosta's public-facing communications. This position executes visual design and formatting for approved content to ensure clarity, accessibility, consistency, and alignment with City branding standards.


The Coordinator provides direct creative production support to the Public Information Officer / Community Relations and Marketing Manager for citywide initiatives, campaigns, reports, and presentations, and works in collaboration with the Media and Communications Coordinators to support consistent messaging across City communications. The position also provides design and visual content support to the Main Street Division, as needed, for promotional initiatives, events, and programs.



  • Design and produce visual materials to support City communications, including layouts, graphics, templates, signage, presentations, reports, and informational materials.

  • Prepare visual materials in direct support of the Public Information Officer / Community Relations and Marketing Manager, including graphics, layouts, reports, briefing materials, presentations, and campaign assets.

  • Provide graphic design support for Public Information Office campaigns, programs, and special initiatives under the direction of the Public Information Officer / Community Relations and Marketing Manager.

  • Provide graphic design and visual content support for Main Street division promotions, events, and initiatives, as requested.

  • Prepare graphics and formatted materials for use by the Communications Coordinator and Media Coordinator across their respective communication platforms.

  • Assist with image and video formatting, resizing, and visual enhancement for communications use, without serving as the primary content capture or publishing role.

  • Maintain organized libraries of approved design assets, templates, and visual materials.

  • Prepare files and specifications for print production or external vendors and ensure compliance with branding standards.

Requirements


  • Knowledge of graphic design principles, layout, branding, and visual communication practices.

  • Knowledge of modern office procedures and the use of computer software programs such as Microsoft Office, Canva, Adobe Creative Suite, and other job-related tools.

  • Knowledge of preparing visual materials for both digital and print formats.

  • Knowledge of accessibility standards related to visual and public-facing communications.

  • Skill in organizing work, managing multiple design projects, and meeting deadlines.

  • Skill in oral and written communication is sufficient to collaborate with City staff and departments.

  • Bachelor's degree in communications, journalism, marketing, media design, or a related field from an accredited college or university is preferred.

  • One to two years of relevant experience in media, public relations, or digital communications is preferred.

  • Equivalent combinations of education, training, and experience may be considered.
