Job summary

Shelby County State Bank (SCSB) in western Iowa invites applications for a Marketing Internship designed for a motivated student exploring careers in community banking marketing. The internship reports to the SVP of Marketing and offers hands-on experience in campaigns, branding, and community engagement while bringing fresh ideas to the table.

Based in Harlan, IA, the 10-12 week program runs May through August and provides opportunities to collaborate across the organization.

Qualifications

• Currently enrolled in a Bachelor's (B.A. or B.S.) or completed an Associate degree program, preferably in marketing, communications, business, graphic design, or a related field.
• Experience with Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) and Canva.
• Experience creating and scheduling content on social media platforms.
• Familiarity with Microsoft Office programs.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Able to work independently and as part of a team.
• Demonstrates creativity, attention to detail, and willingness to learn.
• Maintains a positive and professional attitude.

Responsibilities

• Assist with marketing campaigns, promotions, and product communications.
• Support social media content creation and scheduling.
• Help create marketing materials such as flyers, digital graphics, and advertisements.
• Assist with website updates and content development.
• Participate in community engagement and event marketing.
• Conduct research on marketing trends and competitor activity.
• Support internal communications and branding initiatives.
• Contribute creative ideas for marketing campaigns and customer engagement.
• Gain an understanding of the community banking industry and marketing's role in customer relationships.
