The Role

The Creative Director at EBONY is an entrepreneurial visionary who lives and breathes culture and is passionate about EBONY’s legacy, and its commitment to delivering excellence to the global Black community. As a key member of our brand and marketing leadership team, you will support shaping the visual identity, storytelling approach, and overall brand presence across multiple digital platforms, including social media, website, video, newsletter, and branded content partnerships. This is a game-changing and exciting opportunity to reimagine one of the most well-known and beloved media brands in the world.

Responsibilities
Creative Strategy & Leadership
  • Develop and execute an arresting creative vision that aligns with EBONY’s vision, mission, brand equity, and audience engagement goals.
  • Establish branding, creative tone, messaging, design, and visual identity. Ensure consistency across all platforms.
  • Lead ideation sessions, bringing innovative and trend-driven content concepts to life across all platforms.
Creative, Content Development & Brand Storytelling
  • Direct the creation of visually stunning, scroll-stopping multimedia content, including digital covers, short-form video, social graphics, editorial visuals, content series, and branded campaigns.
  • Collaborate with editorial, integrated marketing, and studio to create a content strategy that resonates with target audiences and drives engagement.
  • Develop innovative storytelling formats that enhance audience engagement and drive revenue.
Digital & Social Media Innovation
  • Lead creative development of all digital content types including short-form video, images, carousel, mems, gifs, text-based content, live video, UGC, influencer collaborations, shared URLs, infographics, polls, podcasts, customer testimonials, guides, giveaways & contests, websites, newsletters, etc.
  • Stay ahead of digital media trends, emerging technologies, and social media algorithms to inform content strategy, including leveraging new formats such as AR, VR, and AI-driven media.
  • Work with cross-functional leads to optimize content for performance, using data-driven insights to refine creative approaches.
Partnerships & Monetization
  • Work closely with the integrated marketing and sales teams to generate ideas to pitch new business through the development of innovative creative concepts for sponsored content and advertising opportunities.
  • Ensure branded content maintains brand equity while meeting client objectives.
Team Management & Collaboration
  • Build, mentor, inspire, and develop processes to create a high-performing creative team who conceptualize, script, produce, and edit social content across all client platforms (YouTube, X, TikTok, Pinterest, Instagram, etc.).
  • Oversee the creative team, including designers, video producers, content creators, and copywriters, ensuring high-quality output across all content formats.
  • Foster a culture of collaboration between creative, editorial, newsletter, social, and integrated marketing teams.
  • Ensure creative ideas are on strategy, on schedule, on brand, and on budget.
Qualifications
