Position Purpose

The Creative Arts Therapist supervisor is a key member of the interdisciplinary treatment team within the psychiatry department. Under supervision, you will develop and implement culturally responsive therapeutic programs for adults with serious mental illness (SMI), including those with co-occurring substance abuse and medical issues. Responsibilities include providing clinical supervision, conducting therapeutic groups, and individual sessions to promote recovery and self-sufficiency.

Minimum Qualifications
Assignment Level I
  • Valid License or Limited Permit from the NY State Education Department to practice as a Creative Arts Therapist. Limited Permit holders must obtain licensure within two years of appointment.
Assignment Level II
  • Valid NY State license to practice as a Creative Arts Therapist
  • Two years of full-time, paid professional experience in creative arts therapy
Assignment Level III
  • All Level II qualifications
  • One additional year of experience in the field
Preferred Qualifications

Bilingual skills are preferred.
