Job summary

The New York City Department of Correction is seeking an Arts Program Facilitator to design and run multimodal creative programs for people in custody. You will lead arts-based groups, covering creative and performing arts, while coordinating with leadership to expand offerings and improve engagement.

Under the Deputy Director of Fine and Performing Arts, you will develop curricula, assess needs by group, and report on program outcomes.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or higher; two years of community work experience.
  • High school graduation with six years of related experience.
  • Equivalent combination with at least one year of relevant experience.

Responsibilities

  • Conduct arts-based groups to men and women in the Department’s care and custody, on housing units, in city jail facilities.
  • Develop and implement impactful arts programs (including but not limited to creative arts, dance/movement, theater, music and writing) and engagement strategies.
  • Support the DOC capacity to provide arts programming by determining arts needs of specific groups and creating curricula.
  • Evaluate curricula and community-based art programming and present outcomes or suggested changes when needed.
