Job Summary

The Creative and Social Media Manager serves as the Howley College of Engineering and Computing's (CoEC) lead visual storyteller and social media strategist. Reporting to the Director, Strategic Communications and Content, this position develops creative assets, manages social accounts, and produces multimedia content that advances the College's reputation, recruitment, engagement, advancement, and visibility objectives. Operating within a shared-services model, the position supports communications, enrollment, advancement, faculty engagement, and special project initiatives across all three units of Howley.

Essential Functions
  • Social Media Strategy & Management:
    • Develop and execute College-wide social media strategies aligned with institutional priorities.
    • Manage official College social media accounts and publishing schedules.
    • Monitor audience engagement, trends, and platform performance.
    • Develop content that increases visibility and engagement among key audiences.
  • Visual Storytelling & Content Production:
    • Create visual assets supporting research communications, faculty visibility, student engagement, recruitment, and advancement initiatives.
    • Develop and produce graphics, presentations, digital content, and marketing collateral, including brochures, flyers, signage, promotional materials, and branded merchandise.
    • In collaboration with University Marketing & Communications, ensure visual consistency and alignment with University brand standards.
  • Video Production & Photography:
    • Produce and edit short-form videos supporting research, enrollment, advancement, and brand-awareness efforts.
    • Capture photography and multimedia content for stories, events, and campaigns.
    • Maintain searchable digital asset libraries and media archives.
    • Manage receipt and editing of user-generated content for social accounts.
  • Shared Services Campaign Support:
    • Collaborate with the Director, Marketing Strategy and Enrollment Communications, on enrollment campaign creative needs.
    • Support event promotion, advancement initiatives, student success storytelling, and research communications efforts.
    • Develop multimedia assets utilized across multiple College units.
  • Analytics & Digital Engagement:
    • Engage in social listening and monitor social media performance and audience engagement metrics.
    • Recommend improvements to content and channel strategies based on analytics.
    • Collaborate with the Associate Director, Marketing Analytics & Technology, to assess performance and improve results.
  • Other Duties as Assigned.
Required Qualifications
  • Minimum of a Bachelor's Degree in Graphic Design, Marketing, Communications, Digital Media, or related creative field or the equivalent combination of education and work experience. (Please review the Equivalency Chart for additional information.)
  • Minimum of 3 to 5 years of professional experience managing brand social media accounts and creating visual marketing assets.
  • Social Media Strategy:
    • Track record of developing organic or paid content plans across enterprise social accounts (including LinkedIn, Instagram, TikTok, and X) to drive audience growth and engagement.
  • Visual Design Mastery:
    • Proficiency with the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, InDesign) or enterprise design platforms such as
    • Canva to produce high-impact graphics.
  • Multimedia Production:
    • Hands-on experience in short-form video production, including shooting, editing, and optimizing video specifically for mobile and social-first consumption.
  • Shared-Services Adaptability:
    • Strong organizational skills to self-manage, prioritize, and deliver high-quality creative requests for multiple internal clients simultaneously.
  • Collaborative Interviewing:
    • Excellent interpersonal skills needed to capture campus life, interface with students, and collaborate closely with faculty, researchers, and campus partners.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Prior experience managing social media and creative design for a university campus, student recruitment engine, or academic department.
  • STEM & Technical Branding: Experience creating visually engaging, creative campaigns around technical disciplines, computer science, or engineering research.
  • Social Listening & Analytics: Experience using social media management software (e.g., Sprout Social, Hootsuite) to track metrics, run sentiment analysis, and generate performance reports.

Additional Information

This position is classified as Exempt, grade K. Compensation for this grade ranges from $60,240.00 - $90,350.00 per year. Please note that the offered rate for thisposition will vary based on thesuccessful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
