The CRE Portfolio Manager is responsible for monitoring the Bank's CRE commercial loans to ensure timely and accurate risk ratings and compliance with credit policies, loan agreements, and banking regulations. This position supports CRE Relationship Managers and other internal teams in commercial credit portfolio monitoring, working under limited supervision.
Essential Functions
- Monitor credit performance of individual commercial borrowers, ensuring timely escalation or remediation as needed.
- Ensure timely and accurate reporting of portfolio monitoring activities, adhering to credit policies related to financial statement collection, covenant testing, collateral valuation, annual reviews, and delinquencies. Evaluate risks associated with non-compliance.
- Engage with customers regularly to discuss operating performance, business results, and covenant compliance. Understand the borrowers' business models and industry trends for effective risk assessment.
- Collect and review credit and financial information, including financial statements, tax returns, industry research, and more. Determine if further investigation or information is needed.
- Prepare financial models and spread financial statements to assess default probabilities and loss given default. Document cash flows, covenant calculations, sensitivity analyses, and collateral valuations.
- Analyze financial data to ensure prudent credit monitoring, including risk rating rationale, industry concerns, market trends, and emerging risks.
- Assist with annual reviews, renewals, interim updates, covenant calculations, and asset reviews. Monitor early warning indicators and credit surveillance.
- Present analyses and respond to questions during credit discussions or presentations.
- Coordinate with Relationship Managers, Credit Risk, Underwriting, and Special Assets to secure necessary credit approvals and ensure accurate loan data.
- Document and track key risk indicators and control procedures.
Preferred Education and Experience
- Bachelor's Degree in Accounting, Finance, Economics, or related field
- 6-8 years of experience in Commercial Lending, Portfolio Management, Relationship Management, or Credit/Underwriting roles with moderate to complex loans
- Experience with CRE underwriting
- This role is onsite Monday-Thursday, with Friday optional work-from-home.
