Job summary

PAE Government Services Inc. is seeking a Functional Lead - Crawlers Transporters Structures at Kennedy Space Center, Florida, to lead a team ensuring safe, reliable operations of ground systems.

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 15 years related experience in operations and maintenance.

  • Experience leading represented O&M technicians; knowledge of hazard assessment and OSHA requirements.
  • Familiarity with planning/scheduling tools (Maximo, Primavera, Solumina) is desirable.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to a team of technicians under a CBA.
  • Coordinate with planners, schedulers, and customers to optimize resources.
  • Ensure safety and compliance with HSEPs, OPs, and WADs.

The COMET contract provides overall management and implementation of ground systems capabilities, flight hardware processing, and launch operations at NASA's Kennedy Space Center (KSC) in Florida. These tasks will support the International Space Station, Ground Systems Development and Operations, and the Space Launch System, Orion Multi-Purpose Crew Vehicle, and Launch Services programs. This requisition is for a Functional Lead - Crawlers Transporters Structures. This position resides within the Ground Systems Support Operations and Maintenance organization at Kennedy Space Center, providing leadership to a high performing team that reliably maintains and operates numerous assets in support of Exploration Ground Systems.

Responsibilities
  • Provide leadership and clear direction to a team of Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) technicians.
  • Build strong relationships based on trust, integrity, and keeping commitments.
  • Proactively identify opportunities to provide recognition and constructive feedback to employees.
  • Conduct tailgate meetings to include safety briefings.
  • Assign technicians to work crews for daily scheduled tasks.
  • Work closely with planners, schedulers, area integrators and flow management ensuring diligent planning to optimize resources and maximize productivity.
  • Forecast overtime labor.
  • Maintain persistent communication and coordination with customers.
  • Ensure work is performed safely per established Health, Safety and Environmental Procedures (HSEPs), Operating Procedures(OPs), and work authorization documents (WADs).
  • Ensure timely and thorough incident response, reporting and corrective actions.
  • Engage in the field including participation in pre-task briefings, review of work orders and safe plans of action; assessment of personal protective equipment, and authoring behavioral safety observation reports.
  • Review OPs and HSEPs as required.
  • Monitor department certifications for technicians to include required training, and supporting the development of new certifications as required.
  • Work to develop and recognize strong performance within in the department and support continuous improvement efforts.
  • Facilitate meetings between engineering, technicians, work control, and customers as required.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • 15 years related experience.
  • Must have a valid US driver's license.
  • Candidates must have demonstrated experience and success in leading represented operations and maintenance technicians, with an understanding of hazard assessment, OSHA requirements, working at heights, and Collective Bargaining Agreements.
  • Experience with planning and scheduling tools such as Maximo, Primavera, and Solumina are desirable.
  • This position may require significant overtime (to include weekends) and may require shift work on occasion.
Physical Requirements
  • May be required to climb stairs to access equipment for troubleshooting.
  • Will be required to wear hearing protection, eye protection, and other associated personal protective equipment.
  • Position may involve extended periods of sitting or standing.
  • Physical requirements are sitting, walking, standing, extensive use of stairs, and access to remote structures.
  • Position is located on a hazardous testing facility; must be able to quickly evacuate buildings in the event of an emergency.
Work Environment
  • May be required to work inside and outside throughout the test complex.
  • Position may require individual to travel daily to different areas on site.
  • Walking on uneven terrain including paved areas, gravel/rocks, and dirt/sand, may be required to access various locations on the facility.
  • Climbing ladders and platforms may be necessary.
  • All work must be completed in a safe manner in accordance with NASA and company safety standards.
Equipment and Machines
  • Computers and printers used for producing reports and schedules.
  • Variety of equipment used in testing.
Attendance and Hours

Full-time work hours. Position may require occasional overtime, including weekend work, depending on task. Must be dependable and punctual. Shift work may be required.

Other Essential Functions
  • Must be able to accurately communicate ideas in writing and verbal communication.
  • Must be able to travel to support position requirements.
  • This may include travel to and from customer location, which may involve airline travel.
  • In some cases, accommodations can be made for POV, if necessary.

Compensation Details

Salary starts at $98,000. Final pay will be commensurate with the candidate's experience, skills, and qualifications.
