Job summary

MEI Industrial Solutions in Charlotte, NC is seeking a Crater to construct and repair crates for shipping and storage, using hand and powered tools. You will read simple drawings and measurements to meet specifications.

This is a physically demanding, on-site role requiring teamwork, safety awareness, and the ability to lift up to 50 pounds; prior carpentry and crate experience is desired.

Qualifications

• HS diploma or equivalent is preferred.
• Able to use hand and power tools safely and correctly.
• Ability to read blueprints, sketches, or other dimensional drawings.
• Perform mathematical calculations as necessary (multiplication, division, fractions, percents, geometry).
• Be detail oriented, able to follow instructions.
• Visualize outcomes using deductive/inductive reasoning.
• Able to use precision measuring tools and equipment (tape measure, levels, calipers & gauges).
• Willing to learn and follow safety requirements and PPE.

Responsibilities

• Measure and mark cutting lines on materials for crating or warehousing.
• Assemble and fasten materials to construct crate framework.
• Erect scaffolding or ladders as needed for assembly.
• Remove or repair damaged crates and containers.
• Anchor or brace forms using hand or power tools.
• Apply shock-absorbing or stabilizing materials for crate construction.
