Overview

Job Summary: This is a Shipping/Receiving position in the business support group. This role understands the transportation process and its interface with business and production processes, warehousing or shipping. Effective time management is essential, as is critical thinking and the ability to solve problems effectively. The employee must be able to speak and write effectively, assimilate information from the written word, and make judgments based on the costs and benefits of various activities. The person will direct, or assist in directing, the allocation of both incoming supplies and outbound finished products and stay informed about developing transportation technologies to minimize cost and time. The position also provides support to the inventory control team, schedulers, and the material handlers throughout the coil plant.

Position

Crater I - 2nd Shift 5:00 PM - 3:30 AM

Responsibilities
  • Ensure Environmental, Health and Safety rules/regulations are adhered to during the shift.
  • Execute established material handling processes to ensure materials are received, located properly, and in a timely manner.
  • Monitor transportation requirements, including attention to detail in contracts and transportation terms (pricing, discounts or fees).
  • Verify the quality of received products, operating within the company’s quality systems, processes and procedures.
  • Monitor, measure and report on receiving-related process performance and general issues.
  • Communicate effectively with leadership, verbally and/or in writing when necessary.
  • Work with Supervisors and Production Schedulers to ensure shipping methods are effective and communication tools are timely/effective.
  • Maintain an active role in the company’s continuous improvement plan to support future growth.
  • Maintain housekeeping standards to ensure a clean and safe workplace.
  • Represent the organizational culture and core attributes in daily work.
  • Perform other ad hoc duties as assigned by the manager.
