Job summary

Konecranes in New Berlin, Wisconsin is seeking a Structural / Mechanical Analysis Engineer to perform analytical calculations and validate crane component designs. You will use MathCad, ANSYS, and in-house tools to model stresses, conduct buckling analyses, and optimize bridge girders under CMAA/EN/NOG standards.

Bachelor’s in mechanical/structural/civil engineering and 2 years of experience required; willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Structural or Civil Engineering.
  • 2 years of related experience performing mechanical or structural calculations for steel equipment.
  • Willingness to travel domestically and internationally.

Responsibilities

  • Perform analytical calculations to compute stresses in crane components and ensure compliance with industry standards.
  • Evaluate static strength and fatigue life of fasteners, shafts, bearings, gears and related parts.
  • Use MathCad, ANSYS, KC tools, and in-house programs to model and automate calculations.
  • Build detailed 3-D ANSYS models of overhead, gantry and jib cranes to simulate trolley and rope motion.
  • Perform buckling analyses (Eigenvalue, nonlinear) per CMAA, EN and NOG.
  • Optimize bridge girders and crane components under buckling, yielding, and fatigue constraints.
  • Knowledge of ASCE and IBC codes is a plus.
