Job summary

American Equipment Holdings is seeking a Level 2 Crane Service Technician to perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on overhead cranes and hoists across the United States. The role involves servicing 3-motion cranes with VFDs or contactor controls, diagnosing brake systems, and installing new crane equipment with strict attention to safety.

The position offers an 8-hour shift, Monday–Friday with on-call or overtime possibilities, and a benefits package including medical plans, retirement

Qualifications

• Experience with servicing overhead cranes and hoists.
• Familiarity with VFDs and contactor controls.
• Ability to read OEM manuals and OSHA standards.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on overhead cranes and hoists per OEM manuals and OSHA standards.
• Service 3-motion cranes with VFDs or contactor controls, including 5-speed pendants or radio remotes.
• Troubleshoot and repair brake systems such as Whiting SESA and Magnetek thruster brakes.
• Understand AC control circuits, Ohm's Law, and voltage drop calculations.
• Troubleshoot and repair contactor-based motor control systems.
• Rig up and install new crane and hoist equipment safely.
• Diagnose wheels, bearings, and reducers.
• Identify crane control components in hoist and bridge panels.
• Communicate repair plans and parts with customers.
• Maintain service records and follow safety policies.

We are looking for a

Crane Service Technician - Level 2

Level 2 - Service Technician

• Performs inspections, maintenance, and repairs on overhead cranes and hoists in accordance with OEM manuals and OSHA standards.
• Services 3-motion cranes equipped with VFDs (no encoder) or contactor controls, including 5-speed pendants or radio remotes.
• Troubleshoots and repairs uncommon brake systems (e.g., Whiting SESA and Magnetek thruster brakes).
• Demonstrates solid understanding of AC control circuits, including Ohm’s Law and voltage drop calculations.
• Troubleshoots and repairs contactor-based motor control systems.
• Rigs up and installs new crane and hoist equipment using proper safety and mechanical procedures.
• Diagnoses mechanical components including wheels, bearings, and reducers.
• Identifies and understands crane control components in hoist and bridge panels.
• Communicates clearly and professionally with customers regarding repair plans, troubleshooting steps, and required parts.
• Maintains accurate service records and documentation while strictly following all safety procedures and company policies.

Schedule:

• 8 hour shift
• Monday to Friday
• On call or Overtime possible
