Slayden Constructors Inc. (SCI), a wholly owned subsidiary of MWH Constructors, Inc. (MWH), is seeking an experienced Carpenter to support a critical infrastructure construction project in Dexter, Oregon.

Note: For cranes onsite, operators must be able to operate all cranes at any time, provide references of their performance, and disclose any incidents or accidents involved.

Essential Functions
  • Manipulate or depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to instructions.
  • Perform minor repairs as needed.
  • Inspect cranes daily for safety issues.
  • Determine if parts are malfunctioning.
  • Complete job tickets, service summaries, and necessary paperwork.
  • Lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, or large objects at construction sites.
  • Determine load weights and check against lifting capacities to prevent overloads.
  • Participate in critical lift planning.
  • Operate crane controls to rotate, raise, and lower loads.
  • Inspect cables, hooks, and blocks for wear; replace as needed.
  • Work within precise accuracy standards.
  • Operate crane based on signals from helpers and control the engine.
  • Follow safety and operational directions carefully.
Basic Qualifications
  • High School Diploma or GED; documentation required.
  • At least 18 years old.
  • Valid driver’s license.
  • 1-3 years of crane operating experience.
  • Ability to understand safety rules, manuals, and load charts.
  • Knowledge of equipment capabilities and limitations.
  • Ability to understand technical instructions.
  • Knowledge of load-bearing capacities.
  • Understanding of fluid mechanics and related components.
  • If requested, provide a medical statement confirming physical fitness to perform the work.
  • Effective communication skills for conveying information and directions.
  • Ability to perform duties safely and satisfactorily.
  • Knowledge of ANSI B 30.5, OSHA, and other safety regulations.
  • Pre-employment drug screening and background check required.
