Job description

Thalle Construction Co. Inc. (“Thalle”) is seeking a Crane Operator. This position is located out of our regional office in Leonard, Texas.

Thalle, established in 1947, is a heavy civil construction company with a corporate office in Hillsborough, NC, and a regional office in Alvarado, Texas. Thalle has construction projects throughout the Southeast, Texas, and New Jersey with growth nationwide. Our diverse and expansive project scope of heavy civil infrastructure projects includes dams, reservoirs, locks, DOT roadway construction and bridges, large diameter utilities, landfills, mass excavation, wastewater, and on-demand emergency services.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Thalle is seeking certified crane operators for a large scale multi-year construction project. Operators needed for lattice boom, tower, and mobile crawler cranes.

  • Operate cranes under general supervision.
  • Manipulate or depress crane controls to regulate speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
  • Inspect crane for safety issues daily.
  • Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
  • Complete job tickets, service quality summaries, and all other necessary paperwork.
  • Lift, position and place machinery, equipment or other large objects at construction sites and industrial facilities.
  • Conduct work with 100% integrity and professionalism.

Education and/or Work Experience Requirements:

  • High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
  • Tower Crane Operators require NCCCO or CIC Certification.
  • Mobile Crane Operators require NCCCO or CIC Certification.
  • Minimum two (2) years crane operation experience.
  • Ability to receive written or oral instructions.
  • Establish and maintain effective working relationships with office and field personnel.
  • Must be committed to contributing to a culture of safety, looking out for yourself and others.

Physical Requirements:

  • Performing physical activities that require considerable use of your arms and legs and moving your whole body, such as climbing, lifting, balancing, walking, stooping, and handling of materials.
  • Work long shifts with non-standard break times.
  • Work in a variety of weather conditions with exposure to the elements.
  • Must have good hand-eye coordination, quick reaction times.
  • Able to work in confined or enclosed spaces.
  • Able to wear a hard hat, safety glasses, gloves, and safety-toed boots.
  • Able to walk moderate distances to reach work area (1/2 mile or more).
  • Able to enter the cab of a vehicle that is 3.5 feet (or more) off the ground.
  • Able to sit in the operator’s seat of equipment and safely reach all pedals, switches, levers, buttons, etc. required to safely operate the equipment (if authorized for that piece of equipment).
  • Capable of sitting in the operator’s seat of equipment and have an adequate field of vision of all instruments, gauges, warning lights, as well as an acceptable field of vision out of the windows and/or mirrors (if authorized for that piece of equipment).
  • Ability to perform the essential job functions consistently and successfully with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards, including meeting qualitative and/or quantitative productivity standards.
  • Ability to maintain regular, punctual attendance consistent with the ADA, FMLA and other federal, state and local standards.
  • Must be able to talk, listen, and speak clearly on the telephone.
