Why Join Us?

Our people are passionate about innovation that improves lives and drives impactful change. Guided by our core values—agility, expertise, and trust,we foster a collaborative and forward-thinking work environment for employees to build long-term careers.

The Crane Operator 3 operates assigned telescopic and lattice-boom cranes for complex, blind, long-radius, restricted-access, or high-consequence work. The role leads site and hazard review, plans complex setup and communication coverage, applies advanced load-chart restrictions, manages difficult load behavior, and supports safe recovery when conditions change. This role also mentors operators and provides field input to lift planning and equipment-readiness decisions.

Responsibilities
  • Lead hazard reviews for complex setups, tight clearances, changing radii, pick-and-carry work, restricted visibility, weather, ground, power lines, traffic, and simultaneous operations.
  • Review complex lift packages and challenge assumptions involving load weight, center of gravity, radius, configuration, ground support, load path, landing area, and contingencies.
  • Plan crane positioning, matting, boom or jib configuration, counterweight, reeving, assembly or disassembly, and setup corrections with qualified crew members.
  • Diagnose abnormal equipment behavior, review configuration-specific inspection status, verify authorized repair release, and identify recurring defects that affect reliability.
  • Apply complex chart notes, quadrant limits, jib or extension deductions, pick-and-carry data, operational restrictions, and worst-point capacity through multi-step lifts.
  • Operate difficult loads through tight clearances, long-boom configurations, changing orientations, high elevations, limited visibility, and precision placement without shock loading.
  • Plan signal coverage, handoff points, backup communication, and emergency stop actions for long travel, multiple blind points, noisy sites, or changing signal-person positions.
  • Lead complex lift execution using planned hold points to verify capacity, clearance, load control, crew readiness, and installation readiness before each critical movement.
  • Make timely stop, reposition, reconfigure, controlled-landing, or stand-down decisions before operating margin is lost.
  • Develop safe recovery steps with the foreman, lift director, rigging personnel, maintenance, or technical support and re-brief the team before work resumes.
  • Review operator logs and equipment history, coordinate safety-critical repairs, and improve field inspection, setup, and operating practices based on recurring issues.
  • Mentor operators across assigned crane types and support documented employer evaluations when authorized.
Qualifications
  • Minimum of high school diploma or GED with 6 years of experience, or combination of equivalent experience and training.
  • Current CCO TSS, TLL, and Lattice Boom Cranes (LAT) certifications for assigned equipment scope.
  • Documented employer operator evaluation for the assigned crane type, size, configuration, and work.
  • CDL Class A and medical card when assigned carrier or transport duties.
  • State, local, project, or customer crane qualification when required.
  • Working knowledge of manufacturer requirements, advanced load-chart use, complex setup, critical-lift controls, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex crane execution and coach other operators in the field.
