Job summary

Qualifications

  • High school diploma or GED preferred.
  • 1–2 years of overhead crane experience in manufacturing, warehouse, or steel service environment.
  • Knowledge of rigging practices, load charts and material handling equipment.
  • Ability to read and interpret work orders, inventory labels and safety instructions.
  • Basic computer or scanner skills for inventory and shipping systems (preferred).
  • Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and stand/walk for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Operate overhead bridge cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts to move, load, and unload steel coils, sheets, and bundles.
  • Load and unload trucks and railcars per shipping/receiving schedules.
  • Perform daily crane inspections and complete safety checklists.
  • Maintain material identification and ensure accurate placement per inventory system.
  • Communicate with machine operators, loaders, and supervisors to coordinate material flow.
  • Follow safety rules, OSHA regulations, and best practices for rigging and load securement.

Job SummaryApply metal to customer orders and accurately process material according to the work order specifications. Ensure that processing equipment is maintained in a safe and clean condition. Maintain processing area in a clean, safe and orderly manner. Complete all required information entry accurately. Perform any other tasks as assigned.Job DescriptionKey Accountabilities:Operate overhead bridge cranes, jib cranes, and forklifts as needed to move, load, and unload steel coils, sheets, and bundles.Safely lift, transport, and position materials to and from processing lines (slitting, cut-to-length, shearing) and storage racks.Load and unload trucks and railcars in accordance with shipping and receiving schedules.Perform daily crane inspections and complete required safety checklists.Maintain material identification and ensure accurate placement per inventory system.Communicate with machine operators, loaders, and supervisors to coordinate material flow.Follow company safety rules, OSHA regulations, and best practices for rigging and load securement.Assist in maintaining a clean and organized work environment.Report equipment malfunctions, safety hazards, and material discrepancies immediately.Support continuous improvement initiatives related to efficiency, quality, and safety.Meets TKMNA Employee Attributes / CompetenciesThe above is intended to describe the general content of and requirement for the performance of this job.
