Job description

SUMMARY

Operates various power-driven machinery used to move dirt or other materials. May operate all or some of the following types of equipment: backhoe, bulldozer, crane, dragline, front-end loader, motor grader, cherry picker, dump truck, etc.

Responsibilities

1. Sets up and operates production equipment according to established guidelines and procedures.
2. Adjusts machine settings to complete tasks accurately and in a timely manner.
3. Controls diesel, electric, gasoline, or steam-powered equipment using hand and foot levers.
4. Interprets hand signals for material placement.
5. May manipulate equipment on unlevel surfaces.
6. Assists in lifting, positioning, and securing materials and workpieces during installation.
7. Performs routine maintenance or repairs as needed.
8. Observes and complies with all safety and project rules.
9. Performs other duties as required.

Qualifications

High school diploma or equivalent preferred, with relevant experience. Knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures within the field. Works under supervision, following instructions and guidelines. Reports to a supervisor or manager.

Additional Job Requirements

• Loads, transports, and unloads materials, tools, equipment, and supplies.
• Inspects and maintains crane and hoisting mechanisms, including load chart interpretation.
• Ensures safety during load hookup and operation.
• Performs minor maintenance and cleaning of tools and equipment.

Physical Requirements

• Standing 5%, Walking 5%, Sitting 90%
• Lifting and carrying up to 10 lbs, pushing and pulling with specified force.
• Climbing, balancing, stooping, kneeling, crouching, crawling, reaching, handling, fingering: O or C as specified.
