Job summary

Olympic Steel, Inc. is seeking a Crane Operator in Gary, IN to safely and efficiently transfer materials in the warehouse. The role requires knowledge of cranes, lifting devices, and daily safety inspections to ensure quality and productivity.

You will operate banding equipment and tow-motor, while maintaining a focus on safety and accuracy. Qualified candidates will have 1 year of related experience, forklift experience, and basic math skills.

Qualifications

• 1 year related experience required.
• Forklift experience required.
• Mechanically inclined with safety and quality focus.
• Basic math skills required.
• Use of micrometers, calipers, and measuring tapes preferred.
• General crane operation knowledge and lifting devices helpful.
• Computer programs knowledge helpful.

Responsibilities

Job Description

The Crane Operator is responsible for safe efficient transfer of materials in the warehouse. Candidate must possess knowledge and skills of the capabilities, limitations and mechanical state of cranes, lifting devices and attachments. The person in this position is required to inspect the work area and machines and equipment daily for safe working conditions. Must be safety and quality conscious. Other duties: operating banding equipment, packaging material and tow-motor operation.

Qualifications:

• Qualified candidates must have 1 year experience in the related field.
• Previous forklift experience is required.
• Qualified candidates must be mechanically inclined, production oriented, and safety and quality conscious.
• Basic math skills are required.
• Use of Micrometer, Calipers, and Measuring tape strongly preferred.
• General knowledge of crane operation and ancillary lifting devices
• Knowledge of general computer programs are strongly preferred.
• Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds.
