MWH Constructors, a global leader in heavy civil construction, seeks a Crane Operator for a wastewater treatment plant project in Austin, Texas.

You will operate a crane, inspect it daily, and assist with critical lift planning while maintaining strict safety standards. Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent; must provide documentation.
• Must be at least 18 years old and possess a valid driver’s license.
• 1–3 years’ experience operating large cranes of 250 tons (4000w), friction and hydraulic.
• Certified to operate RTC80130 Rough Terrain crane.
• Qualified Signal Person Level 1 and Rigging Level 1 training per 1926 Subpart CC.
• Ability to read safety rules, load charts, and instructions; understand equipment capabilities.

Responsibilities

• Operate crane under general supervision following signals and written instructions.
• Inspect crane daily for safety issues and report malfunctions.
• Prepare tickets, service summaries, and required paperwork.
• Lift, position, and place heavy equipment at construction sites.
• Participate in critical lift planning and ensure load weights comply with capacity.

About the Role:

MWH Constructors, a global leader in heavy civil construction of water and wastewater facilities, is currently seeking a Crane Operator to support a critical wastewater treatment plant construction project in Austin, Texas.

Essential Functions

• Operate the crane under general supervision.
• Manipulate or depress crane controls to regulate the speed and direction of crane and hoist movement according to written, verbal, or signal instructions.
• Perform minor repairs as needed.
• Inspect the crane for safety issues on a daily basis.
• Determine if any parts are malfunctioning.
• Complete job tickets, service quality summaries, and all other necessary paperwork.
• Lift, position, and place machinery, equipment, or other large objects at construction sites and industrial facilities.
• Determine load weights and check them against lifting capacities in order to prevent overload.
• Participate in critical lift planning.
• Inspect cables, hooks, and blocks for wear and install or replace as needed.
• Work within precise limits and standards of accuracy.
• Operate the crane according to signals from the helper.
• Follow directions carefully.

Basic Qualifications

• High School Diploma or GED equivalent. Documentation must be provided at the time of application.
• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• Must have a valid driver’s license.
• 1-3 years’ experience in operating large cranes of 250 tons (4000w), Friction and Hydraulic.
• Certified to operate RTC80130 Rough Terrain crane.
• Qualified Signal Person Level 1.
• Qualified Rigging Level 1 training is required under 1926 Subpart CC.
• Comprehend documents such as safety rules, operating maintenance instructions, load charts, and procedure manuals.
• Working knowledge of equipment capabilities and limitations.
• Ability to understand technical instructions.
• Knowledge of the load-bearing capabilities of all equipment.
• Good understanding of fluid mechanics and all of the components involved in these processes.
• If requested, the applicant shall furnish a written statement from a medical doctor that he/she has had a physical examination in connection with the application and is physically fit to perform the work.
• Required to communicate information, ideas, directions with the capability to perform the task or project discussed.
• Must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily and with utmost regard for safety.
• Understanding of ANSI B 30.5, OSHA, federal, state, and local requirements (e.g., crane set up, securing the load, controlling the loaded and hand signals, etc.).
• Pre-employment drug screening and background checks required.
• Experience operating other types of cranes is a plus.

Compensation

• $35-$40 per hour, based on qualifications.
