Position Summary

The Crane Operator will safely operate cranes to transfer heavy objects from one location to another.

Essential Functions of the Job
  1. Operates specialized machinery such as lattice booms and must be NCCCO Certified.
  2. Calculates load capacity, determining the weight of items to be moved in relation to the maximum capacity of the crane based on manufacturer specifications.
  3. Inspects clearances, overhead lines, and other obstructions to ensure safety and prevent accidents or damage.
  4. Maintains logs and records of operation activities.
  5. Performs other related duties as assigned.

  1. Inspects and assesses ground conditions for safe crane setup.
  2. Inspects cranes for defects and wear prior to operation; performs necessary repairs or maintenance.
  3. Complies with all applicable safety laws, guidelines, and best practices.

  • Good verbal and written communication skills to understand instructions, safety regulations, and maintain records.
  • Ability to troubleshoot mechanical problems.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • Valid state license to operate heavy equipment required.
Physical Requirements and Working Environment
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
  • Excellent depth perception and reaction time.
  • Visual acuity to follow hand signals, maintain logs, and inspect machinery.
  • May work in various weather conditions, including extreme heat and cold.
