Job summary

SSA Marine in Oakland, CA is seeking a Journeyman Crane Mechanic to maintain and repair cranes and high- and low-voltage equipment on site. The role requires extensive hands-on electrical, mechanical and control-system troubleshooting, along with welding/fabrication as needed.

You will read schematics, support on-site diagnostics, and ensure compliance with safety regulations. Union position with wages determined per Collective Bargaining Agreement.

Qualifications

• Vocational training or apprenticeship in heavy equipment/crane maintenance preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience maintaining, troubleshooting, and repairing heavy equipment, cranes, or industrial machinery.
• Strong hydraulic system knowledge; electrical engineering knowledge preferred.
• Experience with high-voltage electrical equipment and systems.
• Welding and fabrication experience required; 3G and 4G welding certification preferred.
• Valid driver's license; able to work in an active industrial environment.

Responsibilities

• Maintenance, testing, and repair of low to high voltage electrical equipment and motor control centers.
• Troubleshoot on-site electrical, mechanical, structural, and electronic systems with appropriate test equipment.
• Read and interpret schematics, wiring diagrams, and construction drawings for installation and repair.
• Perform welding/fabrication 3G and 4G as needed.
• Ensure safety procedures and PPE are followed; maintain maintenance files.
• Support crane and lifting equipment maintenance and rebuild activities.
