Job description

Position Overview

We are seeking a skilled A Crane Mechanic who is responsible for inspecting, diagnosing, repairing, and maintaining various types of cranes, including mobile, overhead, tower, and crawler cranes. This role requires a deep understanding of mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic systems to ensure safe and efficient crane operation.

Key Responsibilities
  • Diagnose mechanical, electrical, and hydraulic issues in cranes and related equipment.
  • Perform routine maintenance and inspections to ensure equipment meets safety and operational standards.
  • Repair or replace defective components such as hoist systems, gears, motors, and control panels.
  • Maintain accurate service records, including work performed, parts used, and hours worked.
  • Test crane performance after repairs to verify proper operation.
  • Interpret technical manuals, schematics, and blueprints.
  • Collaborate with crane operators, engineers, and safety personnel to assess equipment performance and make necessary adjustments.
  • Comply with OSHA, manufacturer guidelines, and company safety policies.
  • Use diagnostic tools and heavy‑duty mechanical equipment safely and effectively.
  • Occasionally travel to job sites for on‑site service and emergency repairs.
Qualifications
  • High school diploma or GED; technical certification or associate degree in mechanics, industrial maintenance, or related field preferred.
  • Proven experience as a crane mechanic or heavy equipment technician.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical, electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.
  • Proficiency in using diagnostic software and hand tools.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints, technical diagrams, and service manuals.
  • Ability to work independently or as part of a team, often in outdoor or high‑risk environments.
  • Valid driver's license.
  • Ability to lift 50 lbs.
  • Must be able to obtain a Transportation Workers Identification Card (TWIC) upon job offer.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certification from the National Commission for the Certification of Crane Operators (NCCCO) or similar organization.
  • Welding and fabrication skills.
  • Familiarity with different brands and models of cranes (e.g., Liebherr, Manitowoc, Terex).
