Job description

Job Summary:

The Crane & Hoist Manager is responsible for overseeing all operations related to the installation, inspection, maintenance, and repair of overhead cranes, hoists, and lifting equipment. This individual will lead a team of field technicians, manage customer relationships, ensure compliance with safety standards, and support business development efforts. The ideal candidate brings strong technical knowledge, leadership ability, and a commitment to customer service.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Manage day-to-day crane and hoist service operations, including field service schedules, technician performance, and job site coordination.

  • Supervise and mentor a team of crane and hoist technicians; assist with hiring, training, and performance evaluations.

  • Ensure all work complies with OSHA, ANSI, and applicable industry safety standards and regulations.

  • Provide technical guidance on complex crane and hoist repairs, retrofits, inspections, and installations.

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, ensuring satisfaction and repeat business.

  • Coordinate with internal departments (Sales, Engineering, Purchasing) to ensure smooth execution of service contracts and projects.

  • Maintain accurate service records, inspection reports, and job documentation.

  • Assist in quoting service jobs, sourcing parts, and managing inventory levels.

  • Identify growth opportunities and assist in expanding crane & hoist service offerings in the region.

Qualifications:
  • 5+ years of experience in crane & hoist service, with at least 2 years in a leadership or supervisory role.

  • Strong understanding of electrical, mechanical, and structural components of overhead cranes and lifting equipment.

  • Familiarity with OSHA, ASME B30, CMAA, and ANSI standards related to cranes and hoists.

  • Excellent organizational, problem-solving, and communication skills.

  • Ability to read technical drawings, wiring diagrams, and schematics.

  • Proficiency with service management software and Microsoft Office Suite.

  • Valid driver’s license and willingness to travel locally as needed.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • NCCCO, CMAA, or equivalent certifications.

  • Experience working with crane manufacturers such as Konecranes, Demag, R&M, or Harrington.

  • Background in industrial automation or control systems is a plus.
