Job summary

Silver King Beverage Co. in Salt Lake City seeks an experienced can-filling machine operator to run the Craftmate line. You will set up, operate, and troubleshoot Krones and Switchback equipment to ensure accurate filling and packaging of cans, while maintaining strict quality standards and cleanliness.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED, or 1 year related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills.
• Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards.
• Experience operating Krones and Switchback machines or similar packaging machinery.
• Basic computer skills (word processing, spreadsheets, databases).

Responsibilities

• Set up the Krones and Switchback machines for production runs, configuring can size, filling volume, product type, and packaging.
• Monitor depalletizer, filler, Switchback, traypack, and palletizer during shifts, progressing toward full competency.
• Conduct regular quality checks on filled cans, inspect fill levels and sealing.
• Identify and resolve machine malfunctions; perform minor maintenance or contact maintenance for major repairs.
• Perform routine cleaning and preventive maintenance on filling equipment to ensure sanitation.
• Maintain accurate production and maintenance records, including quantities, settings, quality checks, and issues.

Responsible for operating and troubleshooting Craftmate machines to ensure the efficient and accurate filling and packaging of cans. You will work in our beverage manufacturing plant, contributing to the production of high-quality canned beverages

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

• Machine Setup: Set up the Krones and Switchback machines for production runs, including configuring settings such as can size, filling volume, product type, and packaging type. Ensure the machines are clean and sanitized, as needed, before initiating production.
• Machine Operation: Monitor the depalletizer, filler, Switchback, traypack, and palletizer machines, as assigned for that shift, during production runs. Progress towards full competency in operating and troubleshooting each station of the Craftmate line.
• Quality Control: Conduct regular quality control checks to ensure filled cans meet required standards. Perform visual inspections, measure fill levels, and check for proper sealing to ensure quality and prevent defects.
• Troubleshooting: Identify and resolve machine malfunctions or issues. Make minor adjustments, perform basic maintenance tasks, or contact maintenance personnel for more complex repairs to minimize downtime.
• Cleaning and Maintenance: Perform routine cleaning and maintenance of the can filling machine. Ensure proper sanitation for hygiene standards and conduct preventative maintenance tasks to keep the machine in optimal working condition.
• Record-Keeping: Maintain accurate production and maintenance records. Document production quantities, machine settings, quality control checks, and maintenance activities to track efficiency, troubleshoot issues, and comply with regulatory requirements.

Has learned the basic skills and routine tasks necessary. Beginning to learn advanced skills, and becoming proficient on all machines comprising the Craftmate line. Strong mechanical aptitude and troubleshooting skills. Attention to detail and ability to maintain consistent quality standards. Previous experience operating Krones and Switchback machines or similar packaging machinery.

COMPUTER SKILLS

Must have basic knowledge of a variety of computer software applications, in word processing, spreadsheets, and databases.
